Newbie - just bought a race-ready GSX-R 600 K5.  I've been to the K.Scwhantz school at Road Atlanta.  I want to do some track days and race schools this summer with a goal of racing amateur at Homestead the first race of next year.  Any advice on which track days or race schools offer the best instruction, as well as bike set-up and tech advice???  I live in south Florida, so a Florida school would be the most convenient.  Any help would be appreciated.

for schools near you, try ed bargy at jennings.

for trackdays, try sportbiketracktime.com
what if the hokey pokey really is what it's all about?

I took Ed Bargy's school back in 2003. That guy takes a simple approach to roadracing. One of his favorite sayings is "Roadracing isn't rocket science"

Oh and he relatively cheap. Good luck.

Sportbike Tracktime is a very well run program.  Monte has everything town to a science and the instructors are always willing to go the extra mile to help you out.  I would say they're the best.

All the suggestions so far are good.

You'll also want to take the Penguin Racing School at Homestead.  I'll be held the friday before the December Homestead weekend.   http://www.penguinracing.com/

For a licensing school, I would recommend Ed Bargy very, very much in your area.  Penguin would be good, but the timeliness isn't going to help you this season.

Sportbike Track Time is your best bet for track days.  Of course, I'm an STT instructor, so I'm biased....
The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"
