Are there any races in CCS that pay out money still?

I heard something that the GT races doen't pay out money anymore. True or False?

Jeff

RTFM dude!

GT does not pay out anymore...  IIRC the only paying class is ULGP.

When in doubt, consult the rule book...

Whats this RTFM and IIRC  ???

I think thats BullSh*t. How in the heck can they not have races that payout? Why? That keeps a lot of people going during the race season. If I hadn't won money in a couple GT races I wouldn't have been able to race as many races as I had last year.

Where is all the money going?

Why can't they pay anyting out?

If you go down and do a flat track race with Stevenaceracing and podium they pay you rite on the spot, CASH!

Jeff

Ummm...  They can do it for several reasons.

1.  They own the business
2.  They dropped the high charges in the purse classes when they removed the purse

All the money is going into Kevin's mansion and new Mercedes.  Get real man...  There isn't "all this money" involved here.  Purse classes were money losers for CCS.  At best, they would break even.

With dropping the purse and dropping the entry fees, more people can and WILL run those classes which will make more people happy.

There is no real money to be made in racing at the club level.  If you can make bank by running flat track, knock yourself out...

You're comparing apples to tennis shoes.  Flat track doesn't have a fraction of the overhead that roadracing does for the organization OR the competitor.

Kevin Elloitt is now runnng CCS/ASRA without the backing of Clearchannel. It's basically a brand new business. He's taking a huge personal risk with this.

Also, Kevin is honoring certificates issued by Clearchannel, which total something like 90K. Clearchannel has told him not to do this, but in the interest of happy racers, he is going to honor them anyhow. However, I believe you can only use certs for race entries, and they are not valid in the satellite series, only the ones run by KE.

Perhaps in the future there will be more purse paying classes, but really, unless there's more sponsorship $$, I don't see this happening.

Do or do not, there is no "try".

Start with STFW:

Then move up to RTFM:

and alas IIRC:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=iirc
(which actually is the 3rd result)

This is why I asked the question. I am just a guy who likes to come out and race his motorcycle. I am not in tune with the inside business management of what KE does.

At first when I heard about this I was kind of shocked and p*ssed off.

You can't argue that a little extra money is both gratifying and helps with a little poor privateer like me. Compensation for winning or podiuming a race is very nice. Especially when you can throw that money rite at a couple more races.

The reasoning you both explained sounds logical and I appreiciate your respones.

The extra money IS gratifying and does help, but I'd rather have a guaranteed 100% positive reduced rate that I can count on for a race over a potential kickback which might be enough to cover the entry fee difference for the next 2-3 races where I won't place high enough.

I'm personally thrilled because now I can run classes which I wouldn't normally run simply due to the extra $35.

So? did you STFW?

Yea, I searched the web, and you are all over it!  ;D

So tell me Jeff, next time I have a question about motorcyle racing, would you prefer that I don't ask the question on racemotorcycles.com? Instead I should search the F*cking Web and not discuss it here?

Is that what you would like me to do?

ecumike

WOW no sh1t.. no more 70 for the GT races?  Hell, yea, I like that.   Maybe I should read the new rulebook.  :)

Thanks for opening my eyes here guys.

Oh, so I see you search THOSE types of sites...

Well, you can do what you please.  But when the hard facts of the information are available directly from the source (www.ccsracing.com), as well as in multiple mailings which every registered racer should have received, you can expect to get a bit of ribbing about questioning it.

The STFW comment was in relation to the question of "what is RTFM"...
