Receiver Hitch Cargo Carrier

Anyone ever use one of those cargo carriers that plug into a receiver hitch?

I'm a little concerned by the leverage the rack seems to have against the hitch, really don't want to see my stuff sliding down the highway.

Also given the choice would you get a DrawTite, Putnam, or U-Haul receiver?

We've had deer on them with no ill effects other than some blood here and there. ;D

As for a hitch, I only use drawtite or reese (pretty sure Uhauls are just restickered Reese hitches with some extra$$ tacked on)

Depends on how much weight you're going to put on it.  Make sure it is balanced well, and strapped down good.

Also understand that everything you put back there will be FILTHY from road grime.

Drawtite, Reese, Hidden Hitch, and U-Haul are all the exact same hitch with different stickers on them.. They all were bought out and merged together about 3 years ago..

I've never seen a drawtite hitch fail in the 8 years I've been selling them at work.. I've seen bent frames and unibodies from people seriously overloading them but the hitches didn't fail.  Just try not to go over the max tongue weight on the hitch and I wouldn't worry about it..

We have one.  We've hauled (in separate instances) our Honda EU3000 generator full of gas, a Honda Elite scooter, and 2 xr50s together.  Ours is the plastic tray type.  I can't remember for the life of me where we got it. Love it, though when we don't want to drag a trailer along, but need more room.
