The only way you can feel what the rear suspension is doing is with a very thin pad and no foam. The stock seat insulates you too much from what is exactly going on.  Jim

I prefer the wood beads for proper airation and wet weather drainage   :-X

QuoteWho likes each and why?

Tail Section that uses a foam pad vs. a Tail Section that allows the use of the Stock Seat...

Going to save some weight  I would think w/ Foam, also might lower you down into the bike a few centimeters as you don't have a seat w/ Padding now, and I could see it making side to side transitions easier?

My Sharkskinz used the Stock Seat on my R1, but thinking I am going to go with a Foam pad on the R6...

Opinions please...  ;D

Try it w/o any foam and see what you think. I used Armour Bodies on my GSXR, w/o foam, and actually liked the increased mobility in the cockpit.

Trying to race on a SB tail w/o any pad will just get you pitched off into some distant land..... You need some grip underneath as you transfer your body weight from one side to the other.
Too much padding; you receive deminished feedback. Too little and you'll be sliding around like a figure skater.
After trial and error I found that the BEST seat pad can be had at a sporting goods store that sells "closed cell aerobic work out mats". They are grey, look like "Diamond Plate" on one side and smoothe on the other and link together. The dimension is about 24x24x1/2" and come in a pack of 6 or 8.  Just cut the pad out, use a good areosol contact cement and your'e done!
You'll probably be out all of 15.00, but you'll have enough to supply half the pits with the extra you'll have left over.
