What is a good base line for jetting stock carbs. I am in the process of rebuilding with 2mm over pistons and 03' cams. No I will not run LWSS with this set-up.

155 Mains - But still a tad lean up top (need 157.5's or 160's)

The bike I ran at Joliet was stock bore, stock cams, made 69hp.

I have 2 SV's

Almost 3 now.

Thanks for trying to call me out as a cheater, nice thing to do on an internet board.

If you suspect me of cheating order a tear down, you will be unpleasantly surprised when you are proven wrong.

Nick,
I did not mean to accuse you of cheating.  I asked a question and made a statement.  I guess I should have worded my statement differently.  Sorry man.  I have had discussions with others (who shall remain namless) in the past who felt that that this was a legal mod because the cams were stock, and therfore SS legal

Now there is a mod I had not considered.  I think I need to drill a few hole in my head.  It might keep my mouth from running when it shouldn't be.    Jason, do you still need those bolts?

No worries Guy, see you at the track, may be this year a few times, but a full season in 07.

When I return, I can promise you that the machine I will be running will not be SS Legal anymore. I'm slowly but surely collecting goodies  :D

I'll keep the stock motor for street riding.

I was hoping that you would run SS.  I would like to race with you, after I pick up a little speed of course.  I sure had fun with you a couple of years ago.  Did you buy any photos from slider photo?  He had a few shots of us racing at BHF.

I did look at the pictures. Man was my bike set up WAY WRONG in those pictures.

My shock was set way to short! And I was playing around with moving my front forks up and down too.

I've learned a lot since then, still have a lot to learn.

Maybe I'll run the street bike in SS with you once or twice with the big high Renthal Dirtbike bars. ;D.

If you're not running stock classes then I'd get a BMC race filter or pods.  
With the BMC you'll need ~165 mains
With pods you'll need ~210 mains

17.5 pilots and 2.5 turns on the AF screws is right as well.  You'll also need to sync them.  The front is a little tough to get at so you might consider running a vacuum line off the front to the neck, put a bolt in it when you're done.  Then it'll be easy to sync next time.  

With the de-snorkled stock ~155-160 sounds about right.  Don't bother with the K&N, it flows about the same as stock, even a de-snorkled K&N is about the same as de-snorkled stock.  IMO the stock flows a little better.

03 intake cams and old intakes on the exhaust side, nothing else to the motor.

With that set up, did you hit the rev limiter at VIR or Roebling.

What kind of power increase did you see with your 03+ cams on the intake and stock intakes on the exhaust?

I don't know as I did my jetting, exhaust and filter all at the same time.  I think the cam swap alone should bring 2 or 3 HP.

I'm interested to see what your final HP numbers reach. If it's not top secret stuff, of course. I'm going to get my first sv to race this summer and wonder what mods I should or can make in the future. According to RRW a few years ago, they were able to get nearly 90 hp if I remember correctly. ANy thoughts?

Protein Filled

I got 94 hp out of mine by installing Megacycle Stage 3 cams, Ti retainers, special valve springs, 41 mm flatslides, a real good porting job, 1mm over high compression JE pistons and Carillo rods.

I had all the motor work done with the stock carbs and airbox and the bike made 86hp. When I installed the flatslides, it made 8 hp more since the bike was not able to breathe properly with the stock intake.
