QuoteWe only pay points back to 15th and have never had anyone crash trying to get that one last point on the last lap....  I'd even venture to say that anyone battling for 24th or 15th doesn't have the slightest clue what position they're in.

+1, just what I was thinking.  Not to mention, do you really think you should be rewarded for 25th?  I'm not trying to be a d!ck, but that isn't worthy of points.

I won a race once and didn't know it...  ::)

I typically have to rely on my wife or someone else to keep track of where I am...  All I know is that I have to pass those in front of me (lappers or not), and not get passed by those behind me...

Points system...  I like the new structure.  I would definitely support a 15th place points cut-off.

It can prevent people from going out and doing 1 lap to get points, then coming back in.  But then again, now with the way that the PI figures into the mix, that tactic would hurt you more than help you...

I like WERA points.  20 for first, 17, 15, 13, 11, 10, 9 etc and only back to 15th or 16th.

I like the 15th place cut off for points as well and plaques/trophies only for top 3.

QuoteWhy only go back to 24th place?  Please correct me if I read it wrong?  I understand the whole beat a guy head to head thing but it does not make sence.

On avg Summit point main has grids of no less than 35 bikes in the AMs.  This will casue people to make worse passes that ever to get into 24th place.  There will be more red flags than ever. Yes one will need to train harder, get more seat time etc to get better.
If CCS is not going to give points back to the last place on the grid then the people out there busting there butt every weekend will be for nothing. That will be the biggest waste of money!!!!  Why race if you feel like your money is being taken for nothing?  If I am right then why race? will it be worth it?

Please correct me if I read the points section wrong.

Ok, how the hell do you count 23 riders in front of you and still manage to turn your bike?  I used to not understand how people knew what place they were in during a race.  Once I started to break the top 10 category I'd sometimes understand.  If you are able to keep count on 23 riders passing you, no offense but take that concentration and focus on your skills and you won't need to take out the 24th place guy, because you will be faster then he/her.

You missed the piont.  Its not about counting the number of people that will pass you.  If you register late you will be in the back.  Yes you should pre reg so what but some cant. The point is the type of judgement that will be used to make a pass to get to that point.  Do I my self feel its worth it to make a bad pass for a point. Is it worth it? to put someone elase in a bad spot fro a point or win?  when I could just say"  fine " "I'll take the next place and work on setting people up better at a TD".

Its funny how people crash in to each other or get rubed hard on the track they come on the board and bitch!!!  And they allways say this rider made a bad judgement call to make that pass for the win or that next point.

I don't think most people finishing outside the top 20 are chasing points anyway. Top 24 is very generous and won't cause people to ride stupid to get that extra point for 24th place. I'd like to see them eliminate all those double points rounds, because that is just about making money. I mean look at Daytona double points for Mid-Atlantic when it is so expensive to travel all the way down there, so you start off behind right away. I can do 3 race weekends for what it would cost me to go to Daytona in March.

If you are in 24th place you should be concentrating on improving your skills riding with other riders. But probably not worried about your points tally.

The biggest problem is the gridding by pre-registration.  I race both WERA and CCS and I like the fact that I know where my grid spot is going to be based on points, and last year not having to worry about getting through masses of traffic to get to the front because I didnt pre-reg 3 months in advance.  It makes it safer, mainly in amateur, to grid based on points.  I think the pre-reg grid deal is to make money also.
