Every year we try to avail ourselves of some high end training, this year we decided on going to Ohlins and setting ourselves up as a direct Ohlins service center. Today was our first day of school and we are here for two more days doing some valving theory and some gas fork training on Friday.
Today went great and the staff at Ohlins are definitely top notch. They, like us, are pure enthusiasts and discussed anything we asked them openly and freely. No politics like you tend to see between suspension tuners etc. They see us as partners and have pledged us their full support with this new venture. As a full on service center for their product we will be able to provide a direct arm to our Midwest customers from the parent company in Sweden. Ohlins is a small company of approximately 200 employees worldwide. Ohlins North America is the only sattelite of the shop in Sweden and have a staff of 20. The service centers are a direct link to their customers.
Today we were doing mostly refresher type stuff. We went over their shocks, their tooling, and basically their way of doing stuff. They want to make sure that we are doing the work the same exact way that they do it in house so that every Ohlins customer is getting a certain level of service. Ryan and I have taken to it very well and are enjoying ourselves. Besides servicing a couple of customers shocks for them we also serviced some of the Road and Track forks. The class has a total of four of us. There is me, Ryan, Dave Hodges (owner of GP suspensions) and Chip (GP suspensions investor). Tonight we'll have dinner with our classmates and pick their brains as well. They seem to have plenty of knowledge to share as well.
Tomorrow is valving theory. We'll be tearing down shocks and forks and putting them on the dyno and making valving changes and seeing the differences and working with different real world scenarios. I'll keep you all posted as we go!

I suppose now that Penske shock you sold me is garbage, right? ;D ;D ;D
The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"

I told you that if it had to haul your a$$ around for a full season, consider it disposable.  ;)

Edgar, I wonder if it's as worn out as your frame sliders? ;D
