Because I didn't want to jack the SS thread.

How many protests have you filed?  Anyone? Ever?

The only type of protests I've seen have been:
Age on Formula 40
Obvious wrong displacement (929 running in a MW class)
Scoring problems

I've personally never filed a protest.  In 2002 & the start of 2003, there was a guy that we all had great belief was cheating BAD.  We talked about tearing him down, but simply decided not to.  I guess in the end, we didn't want to seem like a bunch of pricks because of it.

So.  How many times did you WANT to tear somebody down because you strongly felt they were cheating, but you didn't.  Why didn't you?

I have filed a protest in AHRMA.  Was not a mechanical issue.

I have been very close to a protest in that I had first hand knowledge that I knew someone was going to get protested.

When a retalitory protest was filed, myself and another rider executed the full tear down of the rider above that filed the first protest.  He got his money back from his first protest, and got the money from the rider that protested him.  The resulting rebuild cost more than the protest money he received.

For me, why not...cost.  Second, risk and lack of real punishment against those who have been caught.

I had 2 protest done on me. One in 1995 on my very slow FZR 400!
The motor was in pretty bad shape but I still won the Amatuer Lightweight Supersport title after finishing 2nd Overall with the Experts. They took the bike apart down to the cylinders and basically laughed and told me to leave. Made me feel good that I rode the piss out of it! ;D
One other time in GLRRA at Elkhart Lake. I had the carbs removed and head ports looked at for inspection. That was the first motor I built back in 1997. Was redeemed supersport legal and I received I think the $150?
I've had nothing to worry about in my career for teardown. I hope someone does so I can pay of my fuel on the way home! ;D

I have never protested anyone. I get upset at some riders bikes. It's fairly easy to tell if someone has a cheater motor when they weight in  60lbs more than you and your one of the fastest guys at the track and they pass you on the straights.
I just figure out a way to beat em anyways.
At the level I'm running lately I have never had a problem with top competitors bikes being illegal anyways. I usually just blame myself for not riding hard enough.

I think that's most riders idea.

But there have been some little blips on even on some fast riders that have been nailed, or things have been seen.

I have been close to asking for a tear down twice.  For me, finances wouldn't allow it.

But if you're confident that you're right, you're not out of pocket for anything, so why not?

Some guy asked me to protest another rider for him once at a Gateway race, I think in '03??

I was riding in GT lights and LW SBK, and a guy comes over to our pit and offers me $50 to enter a protest against another rider (I believe it may have even been K3 when he was on the black FZR??). He of course offered to pay for any other costs that came up from the teardown...

I told him that if he had a problem with another rider or suspected him of cheating, he should bone up and make the protest himself - I had no interest in entering one for him. Great way to make friends at the track, you know, protest another rider for someone you don't even know..........

When I asked why he wouldn't just make the protest himself, he said "Well, we're both from Chicago and we're at a lot of the races together, and I didn't want to piss him off". Uh, sorry dude, I'm not your protest biotch...

No idea who it was, after taking a couple years off I doubt I'd even recognize him...

A friend of mine was very wealthy.

He liked going out to eat.  if it was on him, fine, but if he wanted to go "dutch", no.

You see, if you don't have something in your pocket to buy, protest, etc...

You have nothing "out of pocket" to start with.  You get it now?

I hope you at least put out when dinner was on him.  Maybe if you did he wouldn't have suggested "dutch."

I saw the insides of one cheater motor last season.  Won't say who - to be honest, I don't even know if the rider himself knew.  But it was pretty obvious it wasn't legal.  Didn't bother to protest... not really worth it - he would've beaten me on a bike that was half the size of mine anyways.

You've got plenty of blank checks, and I'll loan you a pen...
