Went to the CCE run AMA Arenacross tonight in ROckford, IL. My first time actually at a live dirtbike racing event. Took my camera to take pictures also. Then I was told that I cant take pictures with a "professional camera".  ::) If I wanted to use a "professional camera" I had to get a permit from the pit pass trailer. There were no signs up at any entrance stating this, just signs stating no video cameras. Either dont worry about what kind of camera someone has, or just outright ban every camera.  Already fired off an email to CCE's AX Sr Director of Events about this. This will be the LAST arenacross event I go to.

Oh and about how the races went, well lets say watching the scooter races we had a few years ago at BHF were more exciting. The 65cc kid racers were more fun to watch than the big bikes or the freestyle competition. Fast guys were doing 25-28 sec laps.

How was the crowd? I assume larger than we'd ever see at BFR? Maybe we should be passing out CCS season schedules at events like this.

CRA used to (maybe still do) display at the IMS show in Minneapolis.

Probably about 500 people. Place was far from being packed. Weather may had played part of it being Rockford was under a snow advisory at the time the way I read the weather. The Metrocenter isnt exactly large.

500 people?

I went last year in Grand Rapids, MI and the place was sold out.  Over 10,000 people there.

Of course, the best show will be Supercross at Ford Field in March.

Letter writing to CCE is just a waste of time!
You'd get more response from writing a letter to your DOG ;D

Rob I was there too, I walked by you at the end wearing a Buell hat. I sat behind you to your left.
I took my son and 4 friends, we have attended it now I think 4 years in a row. We  went early to the track "party" last year we could walk the track and get autographs from all the riders that offered them.So we drove early and did the "party", arrived at 1:30 expecting to walk the track etc. "changed format this year! No track walk just practice. They were very dissapointed, but liked the racing!

Hey PJ get those parts to me!

Quote500 people?

come on now rob....it wasn't a great turn out but 500 people??

Hammertime sold out of tickets for friday and damn near sold out for saturday.   There was a decent amout of people there, tho it wasn't like the glory days when you had mike jones, buddy antunez, hoffmaster etc but....it reminded me more of a Lake Geneva Friday race then the usual arenaX.

arena cross is pretty much good amateurs racing in a hocky rink sized course. its pretty much that buffer between regionals and national supercross, and also for retired racers. fun to race in, and if u have a son or spouce in it, but not for specators. go to a national supercross or motocross race. and of course, its no fun if u dont know who the big dogs are.
