Does anyone have any info on wireless on-board camera units...looking to have closed circut tv in pits w/ live feedback. I know $$$ so dont go there.

More than likely you'd need an FCC license for any transmissions that would be strong enough to make it to the pits all the way around the track.

If you had an amateur radio license you could do it for less than 1.5K. I figured out how to do all that within that type of equipment.

But otherwise, I don't know about doing it.

Mount a laptop on the tank with a USB camera and wireless internet card, and go for a netmeeting!

my company is in the process of developing a miniatur wireless camera that can be mounted just about anywhere on a bike.  The video signal will be sent to a pocked digital video recorder located on the bike or on the rider.  Range will not be much more than 25'.  Probably be in the range of $700 complete with camera, wireless transmitter, recorder & receiver.  This new product should be ready for sale by mid-December 2005.  Could this be of interest to you?  Let me know

Yes, Nate is correct.. to do it like you want.. you'd need a license to transmit something far enough to capture remote video of you all the way around the track.

this company has a bunch of that type of stuff www.supercircuits.com . I have the AVX 900 system. I only tried it once , haven't had time to mess with it much. It worked ok, but lost signal on far parts of the track at Summit. They are popular with RC helicopter and airplane guys. There ranges are very optimistic. You will definitely need the Yagi recieve antenna and set it up on top of an RV.
