Route to Daytona

We will be driving from Phoenix to Daytona and was wondering the best route.  Mapquest shows taking the 10 but looks like a bit of a detour around New Orleans.  I was wondering if this route would work or if we need to plan to detour further.

We are leaving from Willcox and are looking at cutting off just east of El Paso and going north up to I-20 just to avoid a lot of the stuff along the coast.  I've checked the route through Rand-McNally and the mileage is pretty much the same.
