So...we got through the second race week end. It rained all day on Saturday but Sunday was dry. The lap record was broken at least three times and no one got hurt! What do you guy's think of it now?

I feel ok on that track in the wet, not so ok in the dry. I think the wet slows at least me down enough that I feel more comfortable. The pavement is also very grippy there in the wet, except for a few select turns and the random wet leaves. :o

Turn 1 bothers me. Even with the Sponge Bob chicane, I still feel like the speeds going in there are too fast for how close the walls are.

The left hander at the bottom of the back straight (after coming under the bridge) bothers me a lot too. I go in there pretty hot, and do a lot of out braking there. But a screw up on my part looks like it could land me in a wall pretty quick.

I spoke to Roger Lyle after the event regarding those two turns specifically. Hopefully we will see some improvement in those turns if CCS plans to run there next year.

For reference, I'm not a super fast guy, but I'm not a super slouch either. I go fast enough to win some of the Amateur LW stuff regularly. (I won the Am Lightweight supersport event on Sunday). In comparison to Nate Kern, Joey Thomas, etc., I look like I'm peddling a bicycle around that track.

As it stands, I would still not run that track for fun. I don't intend to enter any events there next year (not hunting championship points next year) unless there are really big improvements made. I think the track has definite potential.

Team SKS Racing had an awesome weekend!  ;D

In the Expert Middleweight Superbike race we turned our best lap time at 1:32.524 which is only .491 seconds off of the track record!!!!  Woo-Hooo!

So, coming from one of the fastest guys there, we thought the track was the most fun that we've been on.  There are safety issues, yes... and I'm sure they will be addressed.  With that being said it is not as bad as it has been portrayed.  Of course, if something goes terribly wrong in some of the turns the result would probably be really bad... but what race track doesn't have turns like that?  Anything can happen.  I will say that in the turns you would most likely lowside the consequences are minimal.

I'd do it again, even for fun... I wouldn't mind getting another eight trophies! 8)

I dont mind the track at all. I like it and will race there next year again as well.

Well
The track is grippy in the wet.  This was my first time on it so I still have a lot to learn about the lines in the esses, hook, and the top of the karusel.

Overall the track is ok but I do not like three spots. 1. sponge bob ( can we just keep going?) just add one more air fence to T1.     2. The kink at the end off stone house makes the right tight.. ( it would make that right more fun. 3. The loop ( when you drive out thats a bare wall.  I think thats where dave hit it.

I have to do the track for fun to learn it but I will not be happy as the air fences for my saftey not be up.

I wouldn't say its boring, and I wouldn't say the track itself sucks just needs a couple of issues that need to be addressed and I think it would make for a better track. I can say the second time around I had a better time there even in the pouring rain and crashing in thunderbike. I'll see how things go next year and maybe thats a big maybe i'll try it again.

also, brad if you read this throw me an email and i'll send your shift rod back to you. Thanks for that you saved my weekend.  ;)
