I saw this and wondered if it might be the next SV?  Who knows just yet . . .

"One of the new bikes that got most of the attention at the show was the sporty Ninja 650R streetbike. It's powered by a parallel twin, 8-valve four-stroke motor, and uses a 41mm conventional fork and a not-so-conventional off-set lay-down single-shock suspension system. It carries a $6299 price tag."

Viable SV competetion maybe.  I don't see anything in the specs that necessarily screams "faster than an SV"

It would be cool to see some more variety on the grid.

Vote for my '91 FZR600. I will run GT lights if they let me.

Looks like the shock on a KTM.

No idea why the frame's red, though.  Maybe so if the bike stinks people won't know it's a Kawi.

If they pay contingency on it I imagine they'll sell pretty well.

Honda has also released a new mini-motorcycle.  The NSP (or NPS, I forget) 100.  It's basically the NSR-50 with double the motor...

The only downfall on it is that it has those goofy sized wheels that you can't get a decent race tire for.

Never happen.

FZR600's made more power than CBR600F2's in Supersport trim.  My F2 made 93 in 1993.  Thunderbike is appropriate...or middleweight.

Probably cheaper to buy a used 125 GP bike.

I'll find out who to ask on Monday.
Hopefully it'll pay the same as the 600 and 1000.

Bernie

A little variety and more competition would be nice.

I would doubt it.  Would be nice, but I can't see the margin of profit or the volume in sales to be better.

As for being better for the class...  As it is now, it's almost a spec class, which is nice.  Lots of information available, lots of parts available.  I think it's good as it is.
