I fail to see how that statement is funny? Why can't Polish people ride pit bikes?

Jeff

You either (a) weren't at Blackhawk this weekend (or past weekends) or (b) haven't seen/heard of the injuries/problems with Simon Kowalski's entourage (all Polish)...

Chalk up one broken leg this weekend...

Your kidding?  a broken leg from a pit bike?

r1owner

Is that the one that happened on the pit bike that was... uh.... "borrowed"?  ;D

Protein Filled

Nope...The "borrowed" bike was a different incident. That guy broke his arm and wrist. There were 2 different incidents involving pitbikes this weekend that ended up with broken bones. I have a feeling that if this keeps up there will be no more pitbikes allowed at BHF...

Don't give up on your dreams! If an illiterate like K3 can write a book, imagine what you can do!

Jeff

IIRC there were 3 transports for pit-bike "incidents" this weekend...  Crazy...  And STILL there were people doing donuts and wheelies on 4-wheelers & scooters...

Crazy!  It is only a matter of time before I have to walk my lazy ass all over that place!

Did you guys hear about the white Evo VII doing donuts in the gravel by turn 3 at the start of one of the races on Sunday?!?!

Jeff

The problem is that people keep getting "scolded".  "don't do this, you'll get in trouble".  "no pit bikes after 6:00pm".  "that's not allowed".

Well, enough is enough.  The punishment/penalty needs to hurt.  This last weekend there was a $25 fine imposed on anyone caught out of line on a pit bike.  The funds were donated to the Wegman fund.  WHAT A JOKE!!  This was NOT taken seriously!!

The fine should have been $100 or more.  Or throw the person out!!

When there is no punishment, the behavior will continue.  And in the meanwhile, all that happens is that pit bikes get taken away from those who FOLLOW THE RULES...

Very frustrating...
(and this goes well beyond Simon.  I was just poking fun at them when I started this thread)

Yup. Me and another cornerworker stopped him by 4 and made him wait for security. When Furman came walking up he did not look like he was in a good mood.  :o Booted both guys out.

Honestly I was waiting to hear over teh radio that the track mgr was going to ban pitbikes, but that never came about.

Also read 3.4.6 section F in the CCS rules about pit bikes. It does state ALL pitbikes must have the riders competition number on the front of them.

Granted alot of pitbike problems can be caused by spectators who bring their own but that can be remedied by not allowing non-street licensed motorized vehicles from being operated by spectators (ie they cant bring minibikes, go carts, golf carts, pocketbikes...).

Also they really need to start getting into racers heads that THEY are responsible for their entourage's behaviour. They can be booted for the weekend because of their friends. Maybe that will start getting their attention.

When I'm cornerworking I should only have to pay attention to the bikes racing. I shouldnt have to also babysit some idiots on pitbikes in the infields.

A stearn reminder that discourages wreckless behavior on pit bikes made at EVERY rider's meeting should be enough.  >:(

Yes, the rule books state that a racer's competition number be on the pit bike and that the racer WILL be responsible for any actions on that bike, weather or not he or she is the operator.

In the SW, Randy and his group do a very good job in taking care of this task. A swift $50.00 fine payable right then and there usually cures the problem.

It just must be enforced. Some of our pits require us to traverse long distances. It would be a shame if pit bikes or simular become banned.

Bigger problem than that, there are kids that frequent the pits and that would be one of my biggest concerns >:(

This problem of controlling pit bikes has never been limited to one race of people, stupidity flourishes in all races (no pun intended).

If someone was riding their scooter in the parking lot of a store in a reckless fashion the police would be called and there would be tickets issued! I happen to know from experience you can be ticketed by the police on or off private property, and most likely, any damn where they please!!!
