I haven't owned a street bike since early 2000 when I started racing.  Since then, I've owned many new bikes, but none were for the street.  2 years ago I did a few hundred miles on a goldwing with much delight, but still went on with no street bike.

Well, as things go, I still don't have a real street bike, but we picked up a new Zuma since they're not being produced after this year, and we worked out a very good deal with a partner shop of my wife's employer.

Since I now have something that actually can legally be ridden on the street, I figured what the heck, I might as well ride it into work.  Today was the day.

I live about 14 miles from work (live in Sussex, work in Brookfield for those in the area).  I mapped out a fairly direct route which mostly used back roads and had nothing over 45mph.

It was a blast...  I miss street riding now.  LOL.  Everyone picked on me when I came into work this morning, but when I explained that I can round-trip commute for a week on about 1.5 gallons of gas, they pretty much all shut up.  And it's FUN.  I was a little concerned about a few stretches of road, but I can keep up quite well, and once there's ANY traffic on these parts, it slows down into the 30's so I have no problems.

Although I still long for a big ruckus, the insane pricetag on it is keeping it out of reach.  This zuma however, is a great deal of fun...

You can re gear it and put a bigger carb and a little big bore kit on it to get it going a bit more.  They are hugely restricted.  The exhaust port has a huge mass of stuff in it to slow it down.

...That, and some stickier rubber and who knows? You might even give the 125s a run in ULWSS...  :D

The whole shebang, carb, pipe, and 80cc big-bore kit is about $350.  

I'll probably put on the pipe at $98 and rejet it, but call it quits at that.  As long as it can sustain me at 45mph, I'm happy. I just don't want to spend a ton of cash, lose anything in the power range, or compromise the integrity of the thing.

As for getting it much faster than 47mph, that would involve higher RPMs or a gearing type change, and I'm not really that interested in getting TOO involved with it.
