CCS has scheduled Tuesday afternoon start time 1 pm August 16th for hopefully a dry test day. If riders are interested in participating please email kevinelliott@clearchannel.com. If it should rain we have made arragements for Wednesday the 17th morning or afternnon that will be decided by Kevin and participating riders.

But will the testing decide if CCS will make the descision to race or not?

Super Dave

I've got to chime in on this.

Look, Kevin Elliott has raced before.  He's raced bikes that are a bit different than the cool stuff we had now.  And the tracks years ago weren't very nice either.

So, the test is there to see what kind of input is available from riders.  Some tracks are ok, some are not.  Some are not rideable.  I'm sure that this test is being made available so that input can be given to the track management to see IF the track is raceable.  No one wants to race on a "dangerous" track.  Most tracks have "issues" in places.  I've raced on actual street courses where the "issues" were more pronounced and the concequenses were certainly higher.

The opportunity is there to help make decisions about whether racing can be done there or not.

So, yes, the test is there to try to make a determination of if's and what needs to be done.  I can't speak for anyone, but recognize that people are putting in time to see if it's safe.

I'll take a few laps around in a wheel chair or on my crutches if you'll let me!   ;D :P

Or the decision could already be made to race (seems like it to me) and the test is there to try to make things "better".  It would be helpful to get an answer to clutch's question from someone who speaks officially for CCS and not a guess from someone else (no offense).

There have been a whole lot of new race tracks over the past years.
Before that, there weren't many new openings at all.  Just old ones.

I haven't seen the urgency or open offerings to get opinions on other tracks.  Seems obvious to me that there is a great deal of concern about this new offering.

Yeah, it's my opinion, but I've known some of the people in CCS positions for longer than most people on this board have ever raced.

One can say the sky is falling or you can look at it another way.  Good Luck!

I appreciate your perspective.  I really did mean "no offense" and for sure have no ill will toward you.  I was just saying a question was asked and it would be nice to have an official answer.

The races are on, for the first date anyways.  Whether some requested changes to the track happen remains to be seen.

I tested it in the wet, but I won't make the dry test this week.  I plan on racing.  If after running morning practice I don't feel comfortable running hard, then I'll simply do my 1 lap for points.

Oh, no problem.

I know this is a sensitive issue.  Since there isn't anyone necessarily calling everyone asking to see if one would like to see the new track and all...

It's not a good feeling.

Again, back to Pomona, I raced the weekend before away from home, visitied my mom and dad, Mom had cancer at the time, and then drove to Pomona.  That was like 2000 miles from my parents place.

We were tired and couldn't drive for long distances without trading drivers, and when we got there...

We found out about the boycott.  Gotta stand tough.  Again, we did eventually ride because at the AMA level, it is about the show.  Was a real mess.  Spent a lot of time socializing and playing around in the paddock.  Was a real mess.
