Ya ever play that game when you were a kid where everyone sits in a circle and the first person whispers something to their neighbor and they pass it around and when it gets back it's totally different?

Thats what we did here, started out talking about Gingerman ended up talking about racing in the rain!

Anyway, Sunny and 82 Saturday and Sunday.

Hey guys,
I'm planning on coming to race Gingerman for the first time this Sunday.  I'll be on an SV650.  I may come on Saturday and practice, but it depends on if I can talk one of my street/sport buddies to come with me.  He has a street SV.  I bought a CCS license.  He does not have one.  I understand the machine reqt's, safety wire, leathers, etc.

Question:  Can he expect to show up with me on Saturday morning with his cash and be able to ride without a problem?

I'm pretty excited to ride myself this weekend.  But now that I hear it's a Suzuki weekend...   I'm a little intimidated.  That might be a tough way to run my first race there!  Oh well.

If he does not have a license and has not taken a school that is recognized by CCS for obtaining a license, he will not be allow to ride. If he's a former racer, they have a different criteria for that, but he will need to contact CCS about the requirments to obtain credentials.

Alexa, I think he meant ride on the trackday on Saturday.  If so, then as long as there is an open spot, I think he will be allowed to pay right then.

Or he could take the race school instead and race on Sunday! :)

You have to have a license to ride in the street group?!

r1owner,
Thanks.  That's how I interpretted the rules.  I was worried for a second!  I was thinking that he could buy the SRD (?) membership Saturday morning and just ride Saturday.  I have a full CCS license because I had a WERA license last year.  I'd love for him to race on Sunday, but I don't think he will want to try to take the race license school, if it's even offered.  The bike is fully wired now, we were up half the night last night, but I don't think he has the confidence yet, and he just wants to do a couple track days riding in the street or sport group before he thinks about racing.

Hey Spyderchick, let me know if you disagree, I don't want to pack up and drive all the way there and be turned away.

And to all -- I'll be on a copper colored SV #688, yellow leathers.  Come by and say hi!

spyderchick

No, my bad, I thought he wanted to race, but obviously he intends to do the trackday. I've seen too many guys show up just hoping to "race" and then get POed cuz you need to take the school. It's all good, he'll ride the street group, have a great time, and then he'll be hooked and do the school. Natural progression, you know.  ;D

Of course.  In fact, I just felt the headshake out of T6 on the rough patch, and the last 2 laps I drifted just a touch wide through 8 and hit that dip...

But my times are coming down.

Hopefully my Ralph Lauren sliders will last through the day.

That's rich!  Good stuff!  :)

Thanks for the tips on the track! ;)

Hey Cornercamping Dan,

If you're lurking about out there, maybe you'll decide to take in Gingerman this w/e. :-/

Even if it's just for Saturday's track day/practice.
