You can see in the gallery that at least one guy in a cobra seemed to be pinned and they took more than one guy away on a stretcher... I've spun my cobra first time I auto-crossed it. Got light and the thing spun like a dime.

Believe it or not all the drivers are ok. My dad talked to a few drivers/crew guys from other teams today. Sounds like they waved off the race start (no green flag). So the front guys started to speed up and when there was no green they backed off. But the problem was that the guys farther down the field couldn't see there was no green flag and pinned it!! Our old car was only on the 7th row and he couldn't see it because of how steep the hill is and where the flag stand it. He said everyone was just coming over the hill and hitting stuff.

Indeed...  As one good friend told me when I got into this.  "If you can't handle bringing it home in a box, don't take it to the track".

I was given 2 pieces of advice when I started racing.

First was about taking it home in a box.

Second was to never expect to ever win any money racing. If you can't afford to pay all of your bills, don't bother racing. Anything you win will then be icing on the cake.
