Quote Yeah, it's powerful alright. RRW article not to long ago about just that. They interviewed King Kenny about it. He mentioned a particular instance of needing to drop a second on his laps. He found it in visualizing.

One of my favorite articles was in RRW last year, it was titled the perfect lap by Collin Edwards...I love those types of articles like the one your reffering to.

...I visualized that I just put a 2.5 second whooping on Rossi on home turf, and at the after race media circus........ oh... wait.... I'm not a Hayden, and I can't even spell Moto-GP....what the hell was I thinking!  ;D
On a serious note... this is a proven technique and is quite helpful in working out a multitude of rider issues, and most importantly, helps me stay relaxed! 8)

QuoteThe best race I ever ran was when I had to start from hot pit lane.  I was running 2 seconds a lap faster than anything I'd ever run at that particular track.  I think it had alot to do with being furious that my bike wouldn't start on 3rd call.  I don't recomend running late for your races on purpose, nor do I think twisting the throttle in anger is a good idea but it worked on that particular day.  I even eeked a podium finish  :o

I think I'll give this a try...

Fine by me Chuck!  :)

One of the best races I have had was kinda of hte same way, bike overheats on starting grid, start dead last in a fied of 33 bikes, ended up 14th place. Every bike I passed had a bullseye on it. I was going to get by people as afst as I could. Had a great race. Just wish I could do it over again.
If I have trouble getting to sleep I visualize a lap around Firebird Raceway. By the time I finish the lap I am out like a light....visualizing works wonders on improving your racecraft.

lol!  I meant I'll try visualizing instead of turning wheels in anger...I'm pretty sure it's safer.   ;D

I usually try and visualize the rtack when I have my "by myself" time during the week before a race. For example I like to run so when I am running I sometimes loudly say the turns, braking points, reference points, best places to pass, etc. while I am running. It helped tremendously last time at VIR, that I dropped almost 10 seconds off my time from the last race weekend I was there. That and I've gotten better. I see it during the Olympics as well. You don't see long jumpers or high jumpers just start by doing their event, sometimes they are standing their for about 5 minutes trying to visualize a perfect jump. High jumper especially.
