GOD DAMN I WISH I WAS THERE!

I bet those machines sound sooo freakin awesome they give you shivers up your spine!

The funny part is I'm flying out there Monday Morning for a job, I'm going to miss the races by one day!  >:(

I hope the turn out is really good and lots of people go so they come back again next year.

Havent you ever heard this.

Jon sees Rossi does a 1:26.9  calls up bob and tells him Rossi doing 26'es.  Bob calls up his buddy Eric on the corkscrew and say "hey we just clocked rossi at 26."  Eric says we got him at 25 something.   Bob tells jon "eric" says 25's.  Jon text messages his girlfriend Sarah "rossi's doing 25's, and how much longer for the hotdogs"  Sarah's in line with Michelle and tells Michelle that "Dickhead, sais rossi's going really fast"  Michelle gets back to her seat and tells her boyfriend Joe (who's never been on a track in his life but can square off his rear tire on his 954RR in 54 secs flat in an impressive display of 2nd gear burnouts) that rossi's going mid 20's.  Joe says that's fricken awsome, 24's are reall fast, i need to let the guys back home know.  SO Joe calls Vic back in the hood and tells him hes at Laguna watching the motoGP practice One and rossi's doing 24's.  Well Vic's more of a car guy and gets "Moto GP Practice One" and 24's backwards and while talking over the water cooler he tells his buddy Greg (Who happens to be a track day junkie and is bummed he doesnt have any vacation left, or money, to go see the MGP race) that rossi's doing 21's at Laguna.  Greg says "that just first practice, ill bet he'll nock a few more seconds off that".  Greg goes back to his desk and emails some other buds (who have all been guessing what the GP bikes would do here) that his friends friend is there and there almost doing 19's.

Still exaggerating Hyperdyne?   According to RRW, the best time was by Nicky, but was a 1:24.228.  No one has broken under a 1:24.000.

Seem's pretty slow.  Disalvo is doing 27's on a superstock R1.  That makes Rossi's 25 seem pathetic.

Laguna is to small for Moto Gp bike's, they are barely using 5th once.  I bet the 250's would be doing faster lap times.

Super Dave

Never saw a 250 pole faster than a 500 or MotoGP bike pole.

MotoGP bikes should be faster than the Superbikes....they make a bit more power, and they don't weigh as much.  But they probably won't be much faster.

Super Dave

knedragon

Hayden just turned 1:24.0,could 22's be possible with the sticky rubber?Edwards was at 24.3,25 mins left

knedragon

scratch that,Hayden in the 23's,1:23.718 :o

Mark Bernard

I think that they should come to R/A and have some fun with the horse power.

Oh I'm sorry I thought this was a discussion about TRAFFIC times!  ;)  Thank god for my 3G/1X enabled cellphone - I can surf while sitting in traffic.  We are 5 miles from the track entrance, and haven't even covered a mile in the last hour (no joke!)  I think Laguna underestimated the # of fans....

Got MotoGP live track times going so I can at least "sorta" watch practice  ;)  Hayden is FLYIN! and these bikes are f-cking UNREAL.

Super Dave

Underestimated?

LOL!

No, but there is just no way in or out of the place.  Everytime I've been there, it's a pain.

Jim, did you guys race?

Super Dave

QuoteThe difference is that this was Rossi's first time around this track...  :o

First time on the track and he still makes the podium! Rossi was just cruising too, did not really ever push like he does on the tracks he has spent time... very wise of the champion! Rossi Rules ;)

Super Dave

Freddie Spencer used to go to Europe in the early 80's and break the lap record on tracks that he had never seen.

That's their job.
Super Dave

QuoteThat's their job.

oh,   and thier enourmous amounts of talent.

That's why they have the job.

Remember, racing really isn't about affirmitive action. ;D

There are riders that have talent.  Some just don't execute.  It does come down to execution from what you have.

QuoteJim, did you guys race?

Nah.  Just went to spectate.  I wouldn't want to race at a combined AMA/MotoGP event anyways. I'd be spending all my time watching the MotoGP guys, and would wind up missing practices, races, etc.  Who has time to ride when Hayden, Rossi, and Gibernau are out on the track?  ;)

I was *really* itching to ride that track.  I've spent so much time on it in video games.  I might have to suck it up and suffer through a Keith Code day just to ride it...

BTW - it was worth the 4.5 hour wait (yes, 4.5 hours) to get into the track.

Hey TZ_boy:

How many times have you tried to shave off just .500 seconds off your own lap time? How consistant are you going around a track that YOU are familiar with?

AMA turns a 127's; Moto GP turns 125's, Holy BAT S H I T !!!
To say Rossi's times were pathetic only shows your own ignoracnce.

BTW- The SUPER CARTS that ran there this weekend, they ran comparable times to AMA, those little things rip!

I just wish it was possible for all to be there, it was AWSOME ;D

If you think Rossi going 2 second's faster than a superstock R1 is fast, that is your opion.  I personally think it is slow.

Shaving .5 second off my time simply requires the removal of my skirt.

The super kart's are running AMA quality TZ 250 motor's.

But they aren't paying you to ride them either...

If you can do better, send in your application...

Even then...

Provisional AMA Supersport Qualifying Results:

1. Tommy Hayden, Kawasaki, 1:27.707
2. Jason DiSalvo, Yamaha, 1:28.054

I guess Rossi isn't much "faster" than an ol' 600cc street bike with street skins either.

HP is not king.  Traction is.  Getting it down on a little tiny track like Laguna is hard, hard on a 1000, harder on something a bit more prototype...
Super Dave

L8brake731

The BIG difference is that the Super carts are running with their rocks just an inch and a half wbove the ground!! :o

We only do that when we're outa-shape...

As far as Rossi and the rest of the Moto GP racers, just amazing talent, AMAZING.

So, late on Saturday evening, after much of the crews and spectators went their merry ways, Mazda Raceway, FIM, or someone made the bright decision to wash the track down :o

Now, with all the rubber or most of it being washed away, the times get a bit slower. Dunlop made a decsion the sunday morning to run the softer compounds to get the qualifying times down and to put rubber back on the track.

Way to go Dunlop ;D Maybe it's time to switch.......
