I have a 15 tooth front and a 48 tooth rear. I have a feeling that's not going to be the most optimal at Road America. Any suggestions? Is going down to 44 on the rear to much?

Start with stock gearing, go up in the rear for a Built motor.

Super Dave

Your bike, how fast you are, and what tires you use will play a difference in it all.

Bikes have different internal ratios, so the external sprocket sizes are different between bikes.

If you aren't driving out of corners or carrying enough mid corner speed, you won't need tall gearing.

Tire manufacturers don't necessarily have the same rear tire circumference in the same stated tire size.  That will affect overall gearing.
