I am watching the F1 at the brickyard. That track looks awesome. Why do we not race there?

Track owner Tony George has said he would like to have a major motorcycle racing event at Indy. And the AMA has done some testing on the F1 layout. The walls are an issue.

That said, even if the AMA races there sometime in the future, there would never be a non-spectator-drawing club event at Indy.

I dont see how the walls would be more of an issue that barber, daytona, and infeneon. I can understand the clublevel deal though, just like RD-ATL.

You know, it's all in the marketing. The guy-on-the-street doesn't know any different.  Clearchannel could advertise for peanuts, and make us sound like we're the Arena Football league of Motorcycle Road Racing.

It'd draw. Not full, but it'd draw.

Think we could get more than 6 guys out there, that's all F1 could do!

Yeah, but they bring on a show that most club level guys don't do.  Sound, uniforms, etc.

Clear Channel has never advertised for peanuts anyway.  If you have space that people pay for, why would you give it away to another part of your company?

your serious ?

After you slide into a retaining wall at 80 mph then ask that question.
AFter you do it and you realize there is no reason why the wall couldnt be 50 feet further away from the track,  ask that again.
sorry just dont like walls.

But back on to the F1 track here.  There is supposley a chicane designed for the last corner that could be built to make it safer for the bikes.

Last year i think Bussie and Hascovic turned some laps on the F1 track here to see how it would be for bikes.   There was an article on RRW website.

Tony George has a very tight reign on what races are allowed there. For years it was *only* the 500. That's it. Some testing, but other than that, the track was a ghost town. Now we have the NASCAR race and the F1 race, that makes 3 races.

So, even if the track was safe for bikes, what would make Mr. George open his exclusive track up to club racing?

Answer: nothing, we don't have the money, sponsors or cache to even dream about being there.

Yeah, that's harsh, but it's reality. Sorry.  :-/ :(

Do or do not, there is no "try".
