CCS <-> ASMA scoring

I am trying to get a scoring question resolved. At the CCS races at ASMA last month the Lighweight classes did not score Amateurs separately from Experts (something that we did not know ahead of time). At first this seemed to be O.K., class standings would still be straight because all Amateurs would be scored in their respective finishing order. Point gaps may be different, but relatively O.K.

The wrinkle that has surfaced relates to overall points. Amateurs competing in other classes, Middleweight, Heavyweight, etc. earned first place points for finishing as the first place amateur, Lighweight class (Superbike and GP) amateurs did not. This is significant. If two first place (amateur) finishes are scored as fourth or fifths, it will make a significant difference in overall SW amateur standing.

So far, no one seems to know what's going to be done.

Hi Mark,

I'm not sure I understand the scoring in ASMA events either, however I elected not to attend as Ultralight Superbike and Lightwieght F40 weren't included, and my Buell hadn't been set up yet. I hope you get a satisfactory answer.
Aron was riding very well this past weekend- I'm a bit disappointed about crashing out of the Ultralight race as I think we would have had a good time dicing it out on relatively equal bikes (my EX). I think he was right on my tail when I went down!
Catch you all at the next one!

Are those points posted with the CCS totals??? If
so, where are they?...

I'm not sure how CCS will score it for the SW region. They are doing their points totally separate from us as far as the event goes. They took the results and will be doing their own version of points.

The way I do it:

They are combined points for the class so I don't score separate amateur and expert in the LW classes. It would be great if we had enough riders in those classes, but we don't. So, I give the experts their overall points earned in any particular class as well as the amateurs their points based on their overall finish. This means first place amateur may have finished fourth and will get fourth place overall points.

Oddly enough an amateur won almost every race last year.

So far, all that I've heard is, "That's a good question, I don't know." I'm told that the points WILL be combined into the CCS SW totals, but not how, or if, amateur finishes will be separated from expert.

As I said, in the individual class standings, it does not make a difference, the points are still awarded in order. My only concern is how it will affect the overall standings.
