The Wegman Fund has been designated as the collection fund for donations for Vincent Haskovec.

Morgan Broadhead of Suzuki called to ask how he could set up a fund for Vincent. My advice, which was backed by an attorney he contacted, was to funnel all donations through the Wegman. Thereby alleviating any tax situation for Vincent.

We are accepting donations through our website donation page, www.wegmanfund.org , or by snail mail.  Either way be sure to specify the donation is for Vincent Haskovec as we are keeping a seperate accounting for his funds.

There will be some press releases out soon concerning fund raising activities for Vincent. Please watch RRW and Superbike planet for info. There is an auction being planned but I'm not sure how (online or ?)or where it's going to be held.

Thank you Gordie for the useful info.
We're all hoping for a speedy recovery for Vincent, and the Wegman fund will certainly help!

A big +1 on that post.

Thanks for all you do, Gordie.  We hope to never need you, but...
The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"

Is there a PayPal account or how does one make a
donation? Would love too... :)

There is a screen on the Wegman site where you enter your credit card info, and the donation is taken from the credit card.  No PayPal.

Credit card, specifically Visa/MC, is all we take on the donation page. We used to have a pay pal account but it was compromised by some leech thief, so much for pay pal security, and we closed it.

FYI

Had a friend who went to visit Vincent last week.
Said he is in great spirits and looking forward to staying involved with racing on any level.

From what I was told, the fracture of T-4 or T-5 has severed Vincent's spinal cord.

He had lots of visitors and you just had to wait your turn.

We are looking forward to seeing Vincent back involved with the sport.

In the paddock here at RA.....what a great weekend so far.

Activities for Vincent are picking up. There will be an auction held at Laguna for him. Donations are coming in for the auction from top racers , AMA and beyond. Nicky Hayden has promised a signed helmet and crew shirt from the Honda GP team.

We have had donations coming in steadily on line and here at the track.

The bad part about all the Wegman work is I haven't seen a bike on the track yet.......oh well. Maybe I can break away for a bit later this afternoon.

From beautiful Road America  hast la bye-bye.

Why don't we "sticky" this for a while longer?

StumpysWife

I can't remember where the t-shirt thread is but we got our shirt and it's very nice.  It's just too bad we got a Vincent shirt in these circumstances.

This is the last update from the M4 EMGO Suzuki website:

Haskovec suffered a broken collarbone, broken ribs, a punctured lung and a shattered T6 vertebra, with paralysis below the chest.

On Monday night, May 16, surgeons inserted hardware designed to stabilize the broken section of his spine, and removed bone fragments from his spinal cord. Haskovec is now recovering at a rehabilitation facility and his long-term prognosis is unknown.

The auction at www.rpmcolorado.com seems to be down? Anyone else having trouble getting in?

OK, the link to the fund raising auction is operational again, at the above address. I'm sure the Wegman fund site is still accepting donations to help with Vincent's bills. If I read correctly, Vincent has a partially severed spinal cord and the donations would be greatly appreciated to help defer overwhelming hospital bills.

Could we sticky this again, but leave it stickied until the rpmcolorado auction is over in mid August? It seems a little odd that this site will not leave up an announcement to help raise money for a fallen racer, and the Wegman fund? Are these stickies automatically retracted/removed after a certain time period?

It's stuck on top again for a while....

The problem with having things stickyied for a long period of time is after a while, people simply stop reading them.  When I see that the view count is no longer moving.  I take it down again.

Posts bringing it back to the front page or even starting a new thread is much more effective in this situation.

Gotchya, thanks again, and I'm sure Mr. Haskovec thanks you too... ;D

I have waited for a bit of time to post anything.  It is a pretty tough situation.  I have been up to see Vincent a couple of time this month.  I hardly recognized him when I walked in the door.  He has decided to grow a beard.  He says he won't shave it off until he can walk again.  I joked with him and said "don't let it get to long...you might trip over it".  When he grinned I reconized him again.

He told me he is suprised at how many people are out there wishing him well.  He was very touched by the photo of the GP riders that all signed it for him.  He has a Pirrelli banner hanging on the wall in his room.  There are hundreds of signatures on it.  The outpouring of support has been wonderful.

Keep sending the well wishes.  They are helping.
