Jeff

Whoever was corner-working in T2 on Saturday morning for practice, I commend you for your fantastic commitment to the job.

I had a cracked oil filter and was fogging the air (no, nothing got on the track), but as I came around into T2, I see the corner worker with the debris flag.  He/she goes to jump the tires and hooks a foot.

Now, in a dive, as perfect as the winning catch in the superbowl, arms outstretched, debris flag in hand, he/she points it at me on the way down into a spectacular face-plant...

You sir/ma'am receive two-thumbs WAY up...

Midwest Safety Crew does a great job!  I guess for some racers they have to go to extreme measures to get your attention! ;D

To heck with just having photos being taken at the track. We need video coverage. I would love to see the highlight film for the weekend, sounds like that may have been the play of the day!

Sounds like the perfect story for one of those Budweiser "Real American Heroes" commercials...

That's exactly what I was thinking...

JeF4y,  Was that a cracked Scotts filter ?  or a normal throw away.

I thought you used the scotts that why im asking.

Jeff

It was a Scotts..

And to be fair, I don't know that it's cracked.  There looks like what could be a hairline crack in the thick aluminum casing, but I don't know.

I had the same problem (same filter) last year / last race at gingerman.  HOwever, I thought it was just the gasket, so Scott sent me a couple more.

New gasket, still leaks.

I talked to Scott this AM and I'm sending it back so they can pressure test it.

If it is cracked, I'll say the filter has been in use since late 2002, and has been through probably 20 crashes on 4 different bikes and 5 or so motors...  It's done well...

I was working on Corner 3.
I give Heath 3 points, started of very gracefully, presented the flag like out of a textbook but really goofed on the landing.

Jan,

Your directions worked out great!  High power lines did the trick - could see them a long ways out,  Very little traffic.  I'll buy you a 'pop' next time!
