I've been checking the forecast online for this weekend and there calling for showers in the summit point area. If anyone lives near the Summit Point area what are the local forcasters saying as far as the rain amounts? Just hit and miss showers, or is saturday going to be a washout? Just wondering? :-/

wow..this is the 1M dollar question isn't it.

Actually the forecast has changed several times today for this weekend.

If I were you I would plan on it NOT being a total wash-out but do plan on hit-n-miss showers.

I've been monitoring three different weather sites and the forecast does seem to be improving for the weekend (still rain most of Friday though).

but as far as I'm concerned, all lightweight racers should stay home...it's gonna pour all weekend...really...why be miserable, when you could stay home all warm and dry ;D  podiums for me!!!

The weather forecasts for this area are never correct.  They call for rain, nothing.  20-30% chance of rain, likely.  90-100%, it's more like 50-50.

Tomorrow I plan on putting my "rains" on my spare rims.

its not gonna rain...its not gonna rain.....ITS NOT GONNA RAIN.

latest weather update....

showers Friday into Friday evening...

chance of thunderstorms on Saturday (possibly severe)

Sunday looks to be SPECTACULAR with mostly sunny skies and temps in the mid 60's

AAARRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY THIS!

OK, LISTEN UP. YOU GUYS LISTEN AS WELL AS MOST OF MY STUDENTS.

WEATHER BY ITS VERY NATURE CANNOT BE FORCASTED WITH GREAT PRECISION BEYOND A COUPLE DAYS.

Weather forcasts beyond 3 days are virtually worthless. It is YOUR fault that forcasters attempt beyond 3 days because YOU people want longer range forcasts than just a couple days. Ratings sell, so news weather forecasters are forced by ratings to go to longer range forcasts even though they are of little value.

Weather is a chaotic dynamic system (as opposed to deterministic/regular dynamics). It cannot, by its very nature, be predicted, THAT IS THE NATURE OF A CHAOTIC SYSTEM.

So quit whining.

Here is a pretty good explaination I found.

What is Chaos Theory?
Tom
Pueblo, Colorado

Dear Tom:
According to an excellent ThinkQuest site in our Chaos Theory category, this mathematical field of study attempts to "explain the fact that complex and unpredictable results can and will occur in systems that are sensitive to their initial conditions." Such systems include weather patterns, the stock market, fractals, and planetary physics.

The classic paradigm of chaos theory is the Butterfly Effect -- a butterfly in China flutters its wings, which triggers a huge, complex series of events that results in a tornado in Texas. Chaos Theory explores how a tiny aberration in initial conditions can drastically change the long-term behavior of a non-linear, dynamic system.

In mathematics, chaotic systems aren't random -- they're just very hard to predict. Like any branch of higher mathematics, Chaos is pretty complex. For further reading on the subject, we suggest Professor Matthew Trump's excellent "What is Chaos? A five-part online course for everyone."

hmmmm

brings up an interesting side topic...

How many of you/us are fair weather racers?  Will you race in adverse conditions?  Will you race no matter what?

Well no matter what we, the corner workers, will always be out there...   ;D

Brian,
My point exactly.
If you cannot forecast it correctly....
WHY FRIGGIN' GUESS?
???

By the way...whining would be
"Boo Hoo, you guys can't get the weather right."

What I said was not whining...it was insulting.
