Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "WOOOHOOO! What a freaken ride"

I've ridden in one for a day.  The cheek pads and overall shape fit my head perfectly.  Now the mesh material on the inside made me want to cry every time I took it off as it seemed to grab ahold of the two day old stubble of a beard that I had and tried to rip it out every time.  It was so bad that every time we stopped for gas I didnt' even take it off....at it about about 90 degrees and 90% humidity.  If they just had a decent liner I'd be all over one.

Yes I have one and have not crashed it yet.

I have only used it one weekend (at BHF).  It does not fit my head as well as my Arai but it seems to be acceptable.  Shield swapping requires a screwdriver, which I don't mind but it takes a little more time than the Arai and you run the risk of dropping a screw when you are in a hurry.  On the plus side Shields cost like $16.00

Here is some great reading on helmets in general.  The Z1R performed quite well.

Check it out!!!  Comment as you see fit.  I would like to hear from others as to their thoughts.  The forum has been kinda dead for a while anyhow.

thats why i have seperate helmets for the street and for the track. because I tried using my shoi RF-1000 on the street and my ears were so sore from takgin it on and off all the time. althogh it fit my head perfectly once it was on. it wasnt practicly for the street. I have a hjc for the street and shoi and arai for the track. although as off like two weeks ago I might be changing that because I just crashed on the street for the first time ever and I had a horribel concusion and puking for two days straight with my HJC and I have crashed three times in a SHOIE and was totaly fine to race later that day. MY HJC cost like $120 and my SHOIE cost like $600 sum bucks. so maybe you do get what you pay for.

You always get what you before.  Z1R helmets are just old HJC CL-12 helmets with a different graphic.  Would you go out and just get the cheapest tires for your bike also?

Court Jester

yeah.

actually they have a softer inner liner that has been proven to take more of a blow than any of the others made.
but yeah, cheap tires are good too.
