I do not have advice on the 1000 using one, but I have used a STM slipper clutch on my 600 all season with zero issues. If I were ridiing a 1000, after getting the suspension set up, this would be the next item to upgrade the bike with.  ;D

I use the STM in my 600rr Honda and love it.  It is a great piece and was worth the money.  Very well constructed and easy to install.  Uses stock steels and fibers or aftermarket as well.  Also have the option with different spring rates to adjust the amount of engine braking.
