ben,

i'm ok for the most part.  highsided, and felt some pressure and heat in my lower back, so i agreed to go to the hospital.  also it seemed at the time that i broke my hand and wrist and maybe my ribs.

turns out i didn't brake anything, the doc was amazed!  (read the x-rays 3 times to make sure). said i have a "crush" injury to my hand and wrist, bruised ribs, and contusions to my back, hand and wrist. (i have a splint on now.) also my head is pretty sore i assume from landing on it! :)

i'm going to get to a local orthopedic doctor to look again at my x-rays after the swelling goes down, hopefully he won't see anything any differently.  i'm taking some oxycodine, so i'm doing ok on it. ;)

i was told i stopped rolling 50-100 or so yards from the crash and was thrown up pretty high.  never blacked out though.

anyway he was differently looking out for me on this one.  i'll be back quickly i hope.

Peanut, great to hear you are ok bro I saw the whole thing. I was pitted across from Timmy Rinaldi all weekend, you came by a few times.

coming down the roller coaster, there were a few bikes around you and you just went flying. the highside sent you up in the air a good bit. I saw you land and start tumbling, you went a pretty good way. I thought initially you hit your left shoulder/neck area landing the Superman so I was a bit worried. the bike slid not too far off the track and your bodywork was left just on the outside of the track. someone else went off-track and just barely made it by your bike which was still moving, kept it up and got back on the pavement. I was yelling for the red flag since you didnt move for a few seconds, I thought you might have been out cold. but you started moving around and the cornerworkers made a quick dash over to you. a few seconds later the red flag came out, and the ambulance flag. I saw someone had your leathers in their hand around you after a while, guess they cut em off huh? anyways good to hear you are doing ok.

is the bike in bad shape? they put down a bunch of quick dry stuff and had to sweep the track, so I assume the motor opened up a little bit ?

hey peanut, sorry to hear that you crashed, and handed on your head. but its a good thing you didnt get knocked out and didn't break anything. lucky bastard...  ;D at least you got some time to recoup, there is kind of a break. Hope to see you well enough to be back out soon.

not sure about the motor yet, i can't unload the trailer, so i have to wait to find out.  they didn't cut them off, we were able to slide them off.

hopefully i didn't shut the track down very long, but with the back injuries lately, i was concerned a bit.    man am i sore today, though.

hec was behind me and said the bike almost hit him, so he was the guy. this one is going to cost a bunch, i just had borrowed his new exhaust!  looks like maybe bent forks, his crushed exhaust, and another subframe cracked in half.  hoepfully the frame is ok.

btw..the cornerworkers were great!

thanks for the concern.  how did your last races turn out?

Nut,

Glad you're ok. If you can heal as fast as you race...You'll be back next week :).  BTW I ran into one of your old Skate buddys in ATL a couple weeks ago at RA with NESBA

well Ned, the faster we go, the harder we hit...
great news that you will be fine. I myself am hoping to ride this weekend at MAM. Still swollen in the back...but the DOC said that it would be 6-8 weeks B4 it would fully absorb. Hope all else is ok(bike)
and keep me posted.

What corner?

I highsided in T7, getting on the gas too hard on the apex at the top if the hill, but the lord was looking out for me and somehow I managed to save it, even though when I landed (still holding onto the bars), both legs were on the right side of the bike.

I saw another amateur highside in T17, though, right in front of me.

well glad the leathers came off the normal way instead of by the scissors. yeah Hector was lucky he was hauling the mail throuhg the grass I bet his pucker factor was pretty high going down the hill in the grass. ouch sounds like the bike is crunchy though. yeah the track was closed for a while but no worries, at least it wasnt a warmup lap or first lap incident. the amount of red flags on sunday was ridiculous.... Sportbike drove me nuts

my races? I got crushed in the USGPRU 250. there were some big dogs out there, I was sliding the front in 2, 3, 4, 16, 17 and I rode like a fag. rear felt no good exiting 1 or exit of 7. a little skerred, but a highside is something to be feared i guess. had gas puking out of my ghetto gas cap, smeared all on my windshield. all in all I ran my best times of the weekend, thats because when Chuck Sorensen came by me I threw an invisbile lasso around him and he pulled me around for a lap :)

Nut, Great to hear you're ok. That was scary. Your bike is NOT in good shape, but looks to be fixable. again...hope the frame is good.
Of course I didn't see it happen...I was slow as hell all weekend as ya know. came up on you about 8 seconds later, but it looked scary.
Heal up quick buddy.  ;)
Good job this weekend.

Peanut,
this is Gian Bojanovich, 575, Timmy Rinaldi's team mate, we were very concerned about your highside, Josh told us about it right before we left, heal up bro, also Timmy sends his best.

ned man, im glad your ok..i guess this happened after we left...remeber bro, its a bike..it can be fixed..just make sure your good to go...did they do MRIs?  If not, you may wanna think about it, cause when i had them done, they said i was fine and when i went to a neurologist in daytona, he got the MRIs sent to him and told me about the brain hemorhaging.

Keep your head up man, and we hope to see you at savannah

Dafan, Greg,  Gian, and everyone, thanks.  i'm sore as hell but seem to be getting a bit better if i don't over due it.  i looked at my x-rays last night and other than i don't know what i'm really looking at, they look great!  lol.  i took the cast off already and am wearing a wrist guard so i can ice my wrist/hand, if it's not broke no need for a cast.  i can't get ice on my back though so i'm using a heating pad.  i have the urge to start working on the bike, maybe i can get to it soon.

i really want to go back to vir and go down the hill again, i don't want that to become a fear issue.  on another note, my girlfriend already hinted that she supports me but is a bit worried now. i guess showing her the "faster" dvd wasn't such a good idea.   :-/

scott, i didn't get a mri, i'm scheduled to go to a doctor on friday morning.  my head does hurt to the touch, but i've been known to be a bit hardheaded so probably nothing to worry about. :) but i'll think about that, thanks

seemed like alot of us going down this weekend, everyone pushing to hard?  changing track conditions?  i'm trying to get a hold of why i ended up on my head and the only thing i can think of was not paying enough attention to when my tires were starting to slide a bit, or there was a bit of dirt on the track down the hill, did i catch it at the wrong time? or the times were good but i've gone that pace before and many others were going faster, maybe just getting tired since it was the 18th lap and i've never been in a race that long?  Maybe it's just hector telling me i was a bit slow down the hill in the mwgp race in the morning and since he was right behind me i just got to heavy handed?

I don't know and it's really bugging me.

also alot of first year experts are going down quite a bit, is this what happens?  benji's been out of action for 6+ weeks, quick you had the serious head injury, wera's had 2 guys lose there lives, well you get the picture. guys seem to be going down quite a bit each and every weekend, including myself.  it seems expert might be safer from a rough riding standpoint but it opens up all kind of other issues.

oh well, i'm just whining a bit....sorry...

peanut,
it can all be a combination of just wanting to go faster and be in the top 5.... :D bro take it easy and heal up fast.... If you need anything email me and Timmy and I will do the best we can to help out

nut, you should probably go get a MRI, just to be sure nothing is bleeding/inflamed internally x-rays dont say that. God I should know from all my get offs.

down the hill is a bit sketchy when you are trying to race to the finishline. I remember last year when tran passed me down the hill on the last lap for first he almost highsided down the hill, amazingly he saved it. We try to drive down that shute , but it seems to be off camper a bit and we are not straight up and down. I know I should start opening up before getting to the down hill section, should start gettin on the throttle right after you make the right. I know the track is falling away because I wore out a pair of boots dragging my foot there before I got my shock worked on.

take your time to get faster, I know you said you are giving it all this year, but as I realized, it isn't going to come so fast (at least for me) and I am going to take my time and not get myself hurt again. there is no shame to be a fast 2nd or 3rd year expert :) at least I dont think so.

see you out there soon, hope your bike is not too bad. If you need anything, let me know. remember we had grand plans for the end of the year, I still expect to see all yous there ;)

BTW, my girl has not been to a race weekend since my big crash  :( she doesn't really oppose it, but she does not want to come anymore because she does not enjoy it as much, too worried... she went to Daytona but spent all the time at the beach.

Well the back and ribs are still sore but the heat has helped quite a bit.

The bad news is the Doc in the ER missed the chip fracture in my wrist so I now have a cast.  I asked if I could get it off in about 20 days (just in time for Roebling) and the orthopedic doctor says 4 to 6 weeks.  :(

But if my math is correct, I've already has a brace on for 5 days now, so if everything feels ok, I'll cut it off on the 22nd.  That a total of 25 days with it laid up, just 3 short of 4 weeks!  ;)

I'm having the X-rays sent to the Doctor who did my right arm surgery (4 hours away), for a 2nd opinion as well.  I still need to go to a back specialist and eye doctor, but they are just for peace of mind.

Not to bad, considering. (I've heard the "bouncing" discription before.....)

Take it easy on that wrist.  I've boken many bones and all healed just fine except my wrist.  It is an amazing and complex joint and can really screw you if you don't do everything possible to get it to heal correctly.

i spoke with hector yesterday and he had me laughing describing his view of the wreck..he was just terrified of topling down that hill himself.

I didnt realize you highsided in the left hand part, man thats a fast area..i thought you tucked the front in the right hand part at the bottom.  Your lucky to be as good as you are bro
