Title: Faster Times at HPT
Post by: Chuck on June 21, 2004, 09:21:46 AM
Was everyone going alot faster this time around at HPT?  I didn't know if it was my set up, experience, or track conditions/changes that made me so much faster.  I dropped 8 seconds off my best.  I know Johnny Moore dropped almost 6 or better.  Was everyone faster?  What do you atribute it to?  Warmer Weather?  Combination of everything?

I know Amatures can hack alot more time than Experts do to the experts being closer to the edge of traction etc...  But I think I saw alot of experts going considerably faster there also.

Moore was cooking this weekend... something has most DEFINITELY clicked with him since I last raced against him at BHF a few months ago.  Good for him!

I had never been there before, so I don't know what has changed.  I was pretty consistent 1:36s, with a few 1:35.7's thrown in.  Started to get the bike dialed in, but wound up going the wrong way with it at first (oops!) so I lost some "positive" track time.  I'm pretty sure I hit on a good idea to try for Sunday (hoping to get down into the high 34s) but the rain and crummy weather scared me away.  With DanO's still-injured wrist, and VIR next weekend, we decided to call it quits, pack it up and leave around noon.  No reason to risk crashing at a bumpy slick track in the rain.  Was nice getting home at 1am instead of our originally-planned 8am.

I'm sure I went faster, but then again I couldn't have gotten much slower!   ;D

I was having fun in LWSS yesterday until we got cut short by the oil.  At least I was keeping Fox in sight this time.

yeah you looked like you were hallin' ass this weekend chuck. that was my first trip to hpt. really like the track layout, hate the surface. is that a road corse or an mx track?

lol no kidding...it takes some suspension work to get around that track, but once you get dialed in it's not that bad.  Thanks for the comment Bobby I worked my butt off last weekend for 2 5ths, 2 4ths, and a 3rd.  :'(

Hopefully I can make it up at MAM.

So does Johnny Moore race Midwest, and Great Plains?

Who was the guy there taking pictures?

He was a friend of mine.  He actually got great photos of everyone.  Call him at 913-302-8097 for information.  He spent most of the day in the carousel.  His name is Mike Lang with Lang photography.

He did get great pics.  We bought a couple at the track and was wondering if he had a website so we can view the others.

Wrong guy...that was Dave with Front Row Photos, he is working for CCS and doubling as a photographer on the side.  Either that or you saw Jack at Slider photo, and if that is the case you can see photos at www.sliderphoto.com.  Dave can send you samples to look at in Adobe format.  Call Mike and see what he has though, I know he is cheaper than some of the other photographers, and will be at all the future Great Plains events.

I think the people you are talking about is www.xenophoto.com

They had a small canopy on the top part of the parking lot with pictures to look at.

Unfortunatly he didnt take many photos, and of very few riders.

Kris

The pictures you got were from xenophoto-I just looked at the card.  His name was Joe Heinzle(402-304-2857), and he took a bunch of you.

Chuck...
So far I have not been much of a Coffee sponser.
Nor do I intend to be ;D

K3...
I know I won't quit. However I am so I am feeling the same way you did last year after dropping Gixxer motor after Gixxer motor.
As it stands, I have run one weekend, and since then I have had 2 crashes and 3 Mechanical Failures  :-/
I assure you, I am just venting

Kris...
I am so glad you stopped bye to say Hi!
I wish I could have been a bit more talkative, but lack of sleep + bad bike = not so happy me
Hope to get the chance to talk to you at another evernt
