This Sunday is the MotoGP season opener. Anyone who'll be at RA want to make a little wager on who's going to win?
Here's my top 3
1. Biaggi
2. Gibernau
3. Rossi
1. Edwards
2. Rossi
3. Hayden
HD
My top three
1. Rossi
2. Barros
3. Hayden(I hope)
1. Edwards
2. Biaggi
3. Hayden
Is this a season long contest to see who can pick the most winners? ;D
Hayden
Rossi
Barros
Rossi was my man, 8) but Nicky's talented and cute to boot. ;) Remember when he was just a pimply little kid? If I were only (ahem) years younger... ;D :-*
Barros is gonna be strong.
1Rossi
2Hayden
3Bayliss
Whomever wins, this is gonna be one awesome season to watch.
I agree Hayden is so damn cute, if i were only (ahem) a girl LMAO ;-)
1) Rossi
2)Hayden
3) Gibernau/Edwards/Biaggi
1- Giberneau
2- Rossi
3- Biaggi
this will be an exiting year b/c Rossi is on the inferior yamaha I can't wait to see what he can do. with that M1 or whatever they call it.
I'm so excited for this race!!!!!!!
In Heather's head...
1. Hayden (This is like asking who's my favorite in MWSS? Stumpy!)
2. Rossi
3. Edwards
In reality...
1. Rossi
2. Gibernau
3. Hayden
Rossi will be hard to beat on a tricycle. Edwards will be the wild card.
Another question...
Will Kurtis finish the race?
I'm guessing no.
Heather
1. Edwards/Rossi < 0.2 seconds
2. Gibernau/Hayden <2.0 seconds
3. Biaggi/Barros < 5.0 seonds
Wild Card: Tamada
Biaggi has started seasons well in the past, but he may have some fighting to do this time. Edwards has the right bike and the right attittude. Rossi is a mover of mountains, he can accomplish anything he wants. Hayden, talented, podium possible, definitely top four. The rest, we'll just have to wait and see.
1 Hayden - Well, Honda's pi$$ed, so well see how much. He's motivated, and I think he's ready. Seems like the offseason has been good. The Joe Rocket debackle is over.
2 Rossi - With experience comes wisdom. Rossi brough his whole crew along for the change. But why show all your card?. Don't need to; he just needs to put in a good showing.
3 Biaggi - A real character. But he can be brilliant on a bike.
4 Edwards - Good guy, but will Honda really give him the good stuff?
Is anyone supposed to be riding the new Honda V-3 at South Africa?
alright suckas.. put your money where your mouth is.
who wants to bet a case of beer of your choice on who wins? any takers?
My wildcard really should have been Kenny Roberts.
QuoteMy wildcard really should have been Kenny Roberts.
nah.. don't go by his practice time. That boy fades big time in races.
Quotenah.. don't go by his practice time. That boy fades big time in races.
Their bike is a piece of cr@p.
1. Rossi
2. Edwards
3. Bayliss
4. Hayden
QuoteWill Kurtis finish the race?
I'm guessing no.
I was almost right. He's not even starting. According to www.superbikeplanet.com, he's on his way home because of his shoulder.
Heather
1) Rossi
2) Hayden
3) Biaggi
Rossi rocks 8) Note the fastest lap (24) and record for the track. Guess who's got a new record, again ;D

If anyone wants it, I have all the 2003 races on a hard drive in hi-res. I'll also have all 2004 videos. I'm a member on the MotoGP site ;D I plan on burning them into a DVD format soon.
I'll remember that corner. ;D
All I can say is...DANG, this is gonna be good. This is what makes it exciting. I mean, look at AMA. It's still the best it's been in years...yet you ask that question and the answer will pretty much be: Mladin or EBoz. WSBK...who gives a damn, it'll be a Ducati. ::) But this series this year, no one knows!
I personally still think Rossi will pull it off. Pole positions, lap times, they all mean bunk once it comes race time. The guy obviously has a switch that he can flip at any given time and turn on "god mode". It's almost unreal. I remember many times last year he wasn't on pole, yet still spanked the field. I really hope he can put the yami on top. That'll tell the world that it's not the bike! (I chant that while racing my 929, LOL)
That being said, I WANT to see Edwards win it, and hope he does!
I think Rossi's intention is to win a championship on EVERY manufacturers bike. Then, he will be able to say that he is the worlds fastest rider. If he can pull a championship on every manufactuers bike, he'll truely be a god. ;D
Quote2 Rossi - With experience comes wisdom. Rossi brough his whole crew along for the change. But why show all your card?. Don't need to; he just needs to put in a good showing.
I think Rossi has something to prove. With all the people out there claiming the BIKE was the reason he is so fast - I bet he has a fire in his gut to win. Especially this first round. If he comes out and DOESN'T do well - then EVERYONE will say, "See! See! It WAS the bike!" But if he WINS this first round, it will shut everyone up. From that point through the rest of the season, he only needs to put in a good showing.
Just my opinion.

I think that is a justifiable comment. Look at his laptime during qualifying. Hell, he beat his own track record. He's definetly out to show up everyone, but I still think his motovation is to show that regardless of the bike manufacturer, he is the MotoGP god. Remember why he switched to ride a Yammie this year? That right there points the arrow in the direction I'm coming up with. He'll start with all the "underdog" manufacturers, and go up from there. By the end of his career, he will probably have won a championship on every single manufactuers bike there is. Has anyone done that before? Nope. He's already proven he's within the best of the best in MotoGP, if he's not actually the very best rider there is. So, what else is there to prove? It's not the bike that counts? ??? Everyone already knows that there are no better sport bikes than a real GP teams. That's motorcycle technology at it's best :)
Practice/Qualifying is very misleading. Remember McWilliams putting the Proton on pole for Phillip Island a couple years ago and promptly getting smoked in the race? ;)
1. Barros
2. Hayden
3. Rossi
4. Biaggi
5. Edwards
QuoteI think Rossi has something to prove...
No.
At that level of racing, no. He's just trying to do his best, every day, every week, every year. When the fun and satisfaction of doing that goes away, his riding might deteriorate, or he might just leave and go to rally racing or something...
He could care less about who he's racing against. He's just doing his job. But
IF someone could consistently pick it up and give him a serious run for his money race in race out, it would be much more interesting.
The Lawson/Spencer battles were really good. Same goes for the Schwantz, Rainey, Doohan battles. Yeah, someone had to win, but really you don't know who.
Now, well, Rossi is still an easy pick. Even on the Yamaha. Question has to be can anyone really pick it up? Hayden? Might be the best bet as he's not a seasoned Euro traveler. The rest, well, they've all been to these tracks for years and years, and some for over a decade.
QuoteQuestion has to be can anyone really pick it up? Hayden?
Hayden ::) maybe next year. I think Edwards is going to give everyone a run for their money this year, just because he's pissed at Aprilia. I met Colin Edwards at the STT Track Day (Aprilia Edwards Replica Day) and he seems like a cool guy. One thing you could kind of tell though, is that he really was glad the relationship with Aprilia was over. That track day was the last thing he "owed" Aprilia and then it was over. I got him to sign my helmet and gas tank. Track day was a hoot, lemme tell ya. Kevin Schwantz, Jamie James, Colin Edwards running around the track, and then some moron on a brand new Mille R Edwards Replica that had 0 miles on it which was supposed to be a collectors item, decided to "try" and outbrake Edwards in Turn 1 at Jennings. Yeah, that kinda sent his stupid ass into the dirt. That bike was in pieces. Anyways, now that Colin has a new ride, he's gotta step up to the plate. No more lame "Aprilia Problems" excuses. Some thought that the Aprilia bikes weren't up to par with the rest, but this year, he better either be on the podium, or come up with a better excuse. I personally think that Edwards will be the one to give Rossi a "challenge" BUT, Rossi will just toy with him until he gets bored, then start sliding the rear end of that Yammie in every turn and leave the entire pack in the dust. 8) We'll see. Hope Edwards says his prayers and makes it thru the season, otherwise, he'll be selling more of this stuff to fund all his toys after he loses his GP ride:

;D
I'm actually into MotoGP and WSBK than some think I am 8)
QuotePractice/Qualifying is very misleading.
I know, cost me $50.00 last time >:( Right now official odds are 10 to 1 on Edwards for the win.
Odd's on Rossi are 2 to 1. Not that I gamble or anything, but the "bookies" usually know what's up ;) ;D
Anyways, is Rossi's time "Official" in the fact that he beat his own record, or does it only count in an actual race? I know that with us it doesn't count unless we're actual in a race. He was .498 seconds faster in qualifying than the circuit record. Hmmm ???
Look at the odds on this stuff:

Clay... watcha do with all the contingency money :P
QuoteHayden ::) maybe next year.
If he doesn't do it this year, there will be a lot of unhappy people. Honda America pulled some big strings to get him the ride last year. They feel that he can do it.
It's time. If he can't step it up this year, he might as well start looking for other rides. Honestly, as an American, you've got to be pretty big to run in a European sponsor filled championship.

I don't think you're clairvoyant Super D., but I'll be sure to tape this race as well as watch it ;)
Alright Mr VanillaMice- I'll lay a 15 pack of Guiness on Mr Rossi. You still with Biaggi to win? Hey wait a minute, the race is over isn't it?
One second of each other, yeah. It's cool.
Best riders, best tires, best teams.
Over yet? Maybe, but the results aren't posted yet. Morning warm up times are.
speed is showing the race today at 2pm followed by FIM. I will record it. I will not be able to convert it to digital for a while as my mian PC just checked out. I need to load a new os. win 2000 sucks butt.

Hello Mr Vanillar? I'll take one 15 pack of Guiness pint cans at RAmerica. Where shall we meet? :)
The only disappointing part of the race was that Rossi didn't say "ees possible" even once during his interview. :-/ ;D
QuoteHello Mr Vanillar? I'll take one 15 pack of Guiness pint cans at RAmerica. Where shall we meet? :)
oh crap.. should've checked this site earlier. But to show good faith, I will have a 40oz bottle of Old English waiting for you. Or would you prefer King Cobra? Come find me.
QuoteThe only disappointing part of the race was that Rossi didn't say "ees possible" even once during his interview. :-/ ;D
But he did talk about his Rhythm. ;)
And his team make good bike.
But he didn't pooosh and be smooth.
Biaggi run good fast lap.
It's always fun to calculate the "ees difficult" vs "ees possible" ratio. ;D
Here are my predictions. :P
1. Rossi
2. Biagi
3. Gibreneau
4. Barros
5. Hayden
6. Capirosi
7. Edwards
;D

Of course, "good" comes out more like "goot". ;D
Rossi has proved to the world he ees the best rider

The OE 40 would be dandy as long as it's in a brown bag, eh? ;D

you got it brother! I'll find ya. #251 right?
QuoteRossi has proved to the world he ees the best rider
'
Well, a couple of times. He is a multi time world champion.
;D
Can he go away from the sport for eleven years and come back and win? That's what Hailwood did...potentially the best motorcycle racer ever. Time will only tell if Rossi can surpass that over time.
