As you probably know, V.I.R. will be holding their Open Practice Day on Friday (Apr. 9) before our CCS race weekend April 10-11.
Please make a note of this information:
Thurs. April 8th - The front gate will be open beginning at 5:30pm .. NO EARLIER[/u], so don't arrive at noon and expect to get in. They have the track rented that day and must allow their other customer time to pack up and leave.
Friday April 9th - If you are not staying for the weekend's races, your gate pass will be refunded in full .. if you leave by 7:00pm on Friday.[/b]
UPDATE: You will be able to get inside all night, all weekend from 5:30pm on Thursday up through 3:00pm on Sunday.
Weekend Gate Passes cost $25 through Saturday; $15 on Sunday ... CASH ONLY. (No checks or charges at the gate, please.)
See ya there! :)
Thanks a lot!!! ;D
Next question. Where do we send our money for the practice day?
Contact Jean Wilkins at V.I.R. directly. Her email address is:
jwilkins@virclub.com
Jean can tell you all details, including how much it costs to enter their practice day.
they will take the $100 at the gate, in cash. So, just bring it.
Great, thank you!!
Now THIS is how a BBS should work. Good info, fast, accurate replies, and most of all friendly service. :P
Thanks again, and see yaaa'll there.
I am gonna beat you ;D
You may get THERE before me... but that's about it. :-X
LOL
so do we not pay for the practice in the "barn"?... they will be taking the money at the gate this time when we come in?
Are you guys gonna show me the way around the track before you run into each other? ;D
Is there also a camping fee at the gate on top of the $25 gate pass fee?
double post...
shouldnt be any camping fee. there wasnt before.
i hope to meet some of you lunatics down there. ill be racing in middleweight gp on saturday, the mwsb, and hwsb on sunday.ex #96 so say whats up if you see me.
I guess CCS has a different contract than WERA does with VIR.
At the WERA races they always add a $25 camping fee if you camp at the track.
there was a 10 per tent, or 25 per camper fee. But they up the price, I think it is 25 regardless this year.
Does any of the expert riders want to volunteer to show me the fast way around this track?!?! Never been there, can't wait though! :D
BTW, is there power at VIR, or should I plan on bringin' a gen?
There are power poles there every 100 ft or so throughout the paddock.
I'm a rookie expert (hell it's my first REAL year of racing period) but VIR is the best track I know...it'll be my 3rd time racing there. I'll show ya where the showers and the food stand are, and I am pretty good at turn 3, but I hear there's a bump there now, so I'll be learning it....again.

I'm an EX but i'm not sure i know the fast way around... ;D but i would be willing to show you around the track till you can leave me behind..lol
I appreciate it fellas.
Medic, are you going to have enough VP at Jennings? BTW, do you have to purchase a certain amount for the sponsorship deal to kick in, or will a 5 gallon drum get you in?

Clay.. what are you riding?

You have to buy 10 gallons PER class you race to be eligable for that class.. PER weekend.
Hey I don't make the rules.. I'm sure Greg can explain further. :)

Mike is right and this is the rule VP made.. you have to buy 10 gallons for the weekend.. but on the up side even if you finish 15th you get paid it pays 1st 5th 10th and 15th place and if you will go to http://www.teamvelocityracing.com/vp.html and place your order there that way i know i will have the fuel you need there
VIR has power. We split it with a neighboring racer last year. I'd show you around, but I won't be there. :( Plus I'm not a fast expert. Just a slow AM. ;D
Quote... if you will go to http://www.teamvelocityracing.com/vp.html and place your order there that way i know i will have the fuel you need there
Greg.. is that the best way to order it from you? Or email you?
QuoteGreg.. is that the best way to order it from you? Or email you?
yeah...that is the best way....
Medic, can I go ahead and order now, pay at the track? I'll go ahead and send you an email if we can work that out.
Mike, riding a 929. I'll be running the GT, GP and SS unlim classes. Am of course, but I really don't run the "average" am pace. I'd like someone who really knows the track to show me the best lines. Greg Melka showed me the lines around Jennings and helped me shave more than a second off my times. I've never been to VIR before, so I'd like to pair up with some friendly guys who know the track well. :)
Yellow plates, # 823. ;D

Yup, I'm going to Jennings. I'll goto the site and order up my stuff. :D

Ok... i will see you at jennings
How much for a vendor spot for the weekend?
How many people can we get in with the vendor spot?
Who do i contact?
QuoteI guess CCS has a different contract than WERA does with VIR.

hmm, all i paid last year was the gate fee of 25 bucks.. no camping fee. but ive only been there once so maybe they just forgot to ask.
Clay, I'll be at Jennings and VIR, however, since I'm running a 125, I won't be in practice or races with you at VIR. Sorry.
QuoteHow much for a vendor spot for the weekend?

Vendor spots are $150.00 per event, and you must have a $1,000,000.00 business liability insurance policy in place. (VIR gets a copy of the policy)
mallen@virclub.com is in charge of vendor activities.
(Mike Allen)
I don't know of any limit on # of people who are working with you, but you should contact Mike about that.
1-888-RACE-099 (VIR)
Oh yeah,
SHOOT TO THRILL PHOTO will be at VIR Friday - Sunday for all of your photo and image design needs!
See ya there.

I'm ashamed to say I don't remember the girl's name who handles the vendors at VIR. :-[
Start by emailing Jean Wilkins - jwilkins@virclub.com
The fees for vendor spots do not include passes in. You'll still need to pay for those at the gate.CORRECTION: Per Jean Wilkins' email: "I checked with Mike Allen (who's in charge of vendors at VIR) and he said
the vendors that preregister with him should NOT be charged a gate fee."
The keyword up there is
preregister.
If your company pays
CCS Contingency money, up to 4 people get in free. You'll pay at the gate and then get a refund from the Head Clerk (Me). (I'm doing it this way to keep it simpler for the people selling passes for us at the gate. Hope it doesn't inconvenience anybody.)
Bumping to the top of the board to make sure everybody gets a chance to read the corrections I made.
:D See ya there!
You have got to be kidding me right!!!!!!! The gate closes at 7pm on Saturday.... So I just spent a week of sleepless nights getting ready for the races on Sunday and I can't pull in at my normal 10:00 on Saturday!!!!!!!! I call BS!!!!!!
I have been racing with CCS for 4 years now and have spent (what I consider too be) a ton of money with this organization and now you are telling me that I cannot get in when I choose.
Lets do some math, shall we... If you pay someone $20 an hour to sit there for 11 hours it comes to $220. Now how many people are you turning away by not having someone there all the time multiplied by the average $300 or so entry fees. All of this is on the assumption that CCS pays people to work the gate.
Wouldn't it make sense to do whatever it takes to find someone to work the gate? Any temp companies in Danville?
What is the sense in operating a business if you cannot unlock the door for your customers???
???
QuoteFrom 5:30pm on Thursday up through 7:00pm Saturday.
So are you saying that the gates close @7p, and if we're inside the gates we can't get out? (like Roebling)
That is not true..i just got off the phone with VIR and the gates WILL be open 24 hours starting thursday
Well then I don't know what I am going to do..... Could someone from CCS or wherever, let me know if I can get in at about 10pm. I am not trying to be a prick but I won't be too happy about making a 4 hour trip to camp at the gate!!!!

What i posted came from VIR ...not CCS ..and they said the gates would open thursday and be open 24 hours for the rest of the weekend ... think about it anyway.. the banquet starts at 6...do you really think they would close the gates at 7 and noone could get out?.. i talked to the track and that is what they said
Alright......lets make a deal :D
If I can't get in.....you give me a 5gal jug for my troubles :P
JK- I will roll with it
I don't know this, I am speculating..but probably what is going to happen is this.
You will probably be able to get in IF you already have your wristband because there wil PROBABLY be VIR personnel at the gate all nite.
BUT.....
There will PROBABLY only be CCS personnel at the gate until 7pm to sell wristbands.
So...my guess is that if you have already bought a wristband you'll be able to come and go as you please but if you haven't purchased your wristband already you will be spending the night in that ever-so-popular camping spot next to the gate in the gravel.
Can anyone from CCS confirm or deny this?

That may be true .. i didn't ask that..i only asked if the gates would be open.. but i do know last year i came in at like 2am and was able to get in with no problem
As it now stands, Pete's right.
Gate will be OPEN all the time. Armband sales will stop at 7pm on Sat. and reopen at 6am Sun. ... I still have some hope that will change.
I don't quite understand the logic here. Does CCS not want any more customers to come in Saturday night?? There has got to be a way around this.. If there is going to be people at the gate to check armbands, why can't they collect my $ and give me one? Can't CCS pay them in addition to what they are getting paid by security to allow people in?
I would really like to come to VIR this weekend but not if I have to sit at the gate all night.
I am sure that I am not the only one with the same situation, am I?
I think every time I have been to VIR, I was checked in by their people not CCS people or was I confused by their VIR shirts and vehicles??
I did it! - Found somebody to work Saturday Night. So, don't worry about it. I'll change the top page again.
Sorry for false alarm! And I didn't mean to cause problems. Just trying to be up front with everybody.
We do outfit the armband sellers with shirts, but they're all locals hired just for the event - some are off-duty VIR security guards. The "on-duty" guards are no longer allowed to do it (insurance reasons I'm sure).
Thanks Jeanne, since I won't be there until late, can you please hold on to my awards from last year? I have some for SE and MA, thanks
Brian McClain
I did not mean to sound like a prick about this but it just didn't make sense to me :-/
QuoteThanks Jeanne, since I won't be there until late, can you please hold on to my awards from last year? I have some for SE and MA, thanks
I ought to hold them for ransom ... usually we ask for a speech since your name will be announced and applause given by a room full of people. Too bad you can't be there!
Come see us in registration to pick them up.
Jeanne,
We'll have to give him the tardiness award. :D
Winner gets to close out the riders meeting.
Hey Art, thats enough of that :P
I'll take any award I can get these days!!
You want a speech, I'll give one but that means you would have to give up the mic ;)
Actually, just tell Danilowitz (sp) to give it....have him stand with his back to the crowd and say "now you see what Brian did all year" lol.... :'(
