Title: Rules say triples up to 980cc for Middleweight? MV Agusta F3 800 has a home?
Post by: Z-man on January 03, 2014, 08:16:32 PM

I was reading the press launch of the MV Agusta F3 800.  I thought to myself nice bike, would it race competitively in the heavyweight class?  I went to the rule book and now see that an F3 800 that puts out 133hp at the rear wheel stock, according to Motorcycle-usa.com versus a 675 that puts out 119hp.  Is this right? I'd think that bike would have an advantage.

I was thinking the same thing. That would be a nice bike to ride.Only problem maybe getting parts if you need anything and any tuning settings as it is a new bike.

I really hope parts availability is better now than it used to be. When I had my Husky, everything (including oil filters) was on back order.

you do realize that the 980cc triple allowed is probably air cooled only?

Parts availability for MV has become rather good.  Quality of the new F3 is fantastic as well.  If anyone has any questions or are interested in any more information on the MV's I would be happy to tell you all I know.

Nope, it was for the Triumph 955 which was way out of it's league in anything but middleweight.

I believe the 800 F3 shouldn't be in the middleweight class, but being that I sell them (and have them in stock) I won't argue with the current rule set!!
