Title: Temporary belly pan for first race
Post by: gskudlarick@gmail.com on August 15, 2013, 03:40:50 PM
Hi,
or I mean help..
I'm installing sharkskinz body work on a 1000rr to race in css blackhawk farms, but the belly pan won't fit over stock exhaust, aftermarket exhaust is on backorder.    Can I get an exception for first race??, or does anyone have ideas on how to jury-rig something.  Can't figure out how I would add a turkey pan.  e.g. with Safety wire, or Tie strips?   Or someone said maybe installing some roofing flashing and bending it up?

Greg I'm assuming the stick cat converter is whats hitting. Doubt they'll give an exception unless its a new racer's 1st weekend.

Only idea I can think of now that would be quickest and easiest is...
If cutting up the stock system isnt an issue, cut the cat off (while still mounted so you can get the right pipe length and angles) and make a mid pipe. Theres flexible exhaust pipe at most auto parts stores.

Or glass up the stock lowers into a tub. That probably would take to long.

Getting out of lightweights or making a 2nd bike?

Great.
I've got a baster pan inside the stock bottom and it seem pretty good, along with sharkskinz uppers..

thx..
