Title: PBIR
Post by: Gino230 on July 29, 2013, 09:07:27 PM
PBIR in July....kind of sucks.

It's almost guaranteed to be over 100 degrees, and based on the last 5+ years experience I think we can safely say 100% chance of thunderstorms and rain.

The PA System has not worked properly in 15 years. They used to have a radio station you could tune into to hear your race being called. The go kart guys have a working PA, (I know 'cause I heard it all weekend). I'm guessing the wealthy parents of the future Danicas and Schumachers simply won't put up with a non working PA.

The paddock parking has been reduced quite a bit (see the aforementioned go kart track) which in and of itself wouldn't be a big deal; but the remaining space is completely unorganized and it's like the wild west when it comes to parking. The space would be fine if there was some lines painted or some policing of the setup process....

Since the owners blew their wad repaving the place and building lots of concrete walls near the corner exits, there's no money left for facilities such as restrooms. So porta potties are about it. They do have two mobile restrooms and they USED to have A/C in there, but not anymore.....I can't begin to tell you how pleasant it is going in to the 110 degree bathroom with 100% humidity and no fan or air conditioning.

Aside from the weather, which I grant can't be controlled by the organizers, is there any chance of getting the above remedied?

End of rant. :preachon:

I met with track management yesterday and they said the rest rooms will be renovated with new airconditioning and PA fixed before the October 5-6 CCS race. I will be going out there to confirm it is done! Parking will be supervised by CCS personnel after the track uses barrels to mark boundaries that will allow room for traffic. And weather conditions are as you say, out of out of their control! The old saying was "if it's Moroso, it's probably going to rain"!

will be great to have the PA fixed, I don't just miss Pete announcing 1st,2nd,3rd call.. but i like to hear what is going on and who is doing what on track during races i'm not in. I will say it was much nicer being able to drop off trailers Friday Henry. Thanks for getting that sorted.

Anyone have an update on Mark Tenn? I don't have Facebook but I heard he has put some updates on there. He is one of the nicest guys in the pits. Hate to hear about anyone going down! Heal up Mark if you read this. We are all thinking about you.

here's what he posted on the JenningsGP forum:
"I received ice cream today from the wife. Feeling a little better physically but definitely beat up as if a mob of 30 people kicked my ass."

Thanks Henry, I remember that you put your foot down about the airfence being placed before we would go race there again and you made it happen. That hasn't been forgotten.

Now get working on the weather!

I got an email from Mark Tenn today, he's home but will be out of racing for a little while for his recovery. I'm sure he will post up soon.
