Title: KTM RC8R RAFFLE
Post by: barkley57 on February 25, 2011, 10:17:21 PM
My name is Bob Michael and I own B&E Motorsports located in Easton, MD. I have started a raffle to benefit the Roadracing World Action Fund and have 250 tickets to sell at $100 each. Winner will take a new 2010 KTM RC8R Limited Red Bull or Akropovic edition bike. I do have these two limited bikes here in my dealership ready to go and they will have the club kits installed for free by me.
All proceeds will go to the Action Fund to support the air fence effort by helping to protect racers at the track. I originally got the idea from Andy Curro (Airfence Andy) when he was always at our CCS races raffling off a Buell. I was inspired by the turn out from people eager to donate $100 to have a chance at winning the Buell but most importantly help support the air fence fund. I thought to myself "why can't I do that." I would love to raffle this bike and give the net proceeds to this organization. I race this bike. I love this bike and it has made me a faster racer because of it, just ask the guys in my class. I would also love to see someone win this bike in the racing community and actually race it. I would be tickled to death to actually share all my setup data and to help support them at the track.

So please guys, I know we would all wish that we never happen to meet an air fence face-to-face, but if we do, we need to be rest assured that one is there in working order and have the confidence that it will protect us from major harm. Let's help this Action Fund by buying a $100 raffle ticket and taking the chance of winning a brand new 2010 KTM RC8R limited bike with only 25 that were made in the US.
Please visit my website www.bemotorsports.net for more details under the Racing tab. I am currently in the making of getting my website to support a Buy-a-Ticket function directly from the site. Until then, you can call me directly and purchase your ticket over the phone using a credit card or PayPal. I will be bringing the bikes to the CCS race events starting with New Jersey Thunderbolt continuing with the remainder of the race schedule until all 250 tickets are sold.
Contact me if you have any questions though phone, email also on Facebook. Thanks and good luck.

Sorry the numerous posts but evidently Paypal does not like it when you use there service for raffle purposes.  I had to remove Paypal from the raffle description and cannot use there service for payment.  I did not know that until they brought it up to me but completely understand there position on this issue.  So, if you would still like to buy a ticket you can call me direct using your CC or see me at the track.

That's because in most states you need a state issued raffle license and you are not allowed to sell raffle tickets over the internet, most states require each ticket sale to be made in person.  You may want to check with the State of Maryland and their raffle laws before you get too deep into this.  I know here in Wisconsin it's impossible to get a state raffle license unless you are a 501(c)3 non-for profit organization.

John P. McDonough, Secretary of State
Raffles of Real Property & Personal Property

§ 12-106. Raffles.

(a) Charitable organization.-

(1) Notwithstanding any other provision of this subtitle, Subtitle 2 of this title, or Title 13 of this article and except as otherwise provided in this subsection, a bona fide charitable organization in this State may conduct a raffle for the exclusive benefit of the charitable organization if the prize awarded is real property:

(i) to which the charitable organization holds title; or

(ii) for which the charitable organization has the ability to convey title.

(2) A charitable organization may not conduct more than two raffles of real property in a calendar year.

(3) The Secretary of State may adopt regulations governing a raffle of real property by a charitable organization under this subsection.

I actually have a permit from my county allowing this raffle as it is governed under the coutny level and is considered Personal Property and not Real Property.

Ok guys the current count is officially 125 and we are halfway there.  I want to thank everyone who stopped by our pit and spoke to us about the bike and the raffle and especially everyone who purchased a ticket.  We ended up selling 11 tickets this weekend and I think having the bike there where the guys and gals could see and touch it was a winner.  Other than the weather a little on the wet side it was a great weekend and had fun racing in that last race (unlimited gp).  Good job to Tim on the win and Eric and Dave, awesome running with you guys as that race was on my mind the whole drive home......good race!!

As of today ......... 88 left!!   Not sure if I will be at the Summit event as me and the wife like to celebrate that holiday weekend with something other than racing.   But, but maybe I will do just one day instead of the whole weekend.  Will see.

Are you willing to drop this off at a forward air terminal or ship by some other means?  I'm in Wichita Kansas zip 67212 and I'm curious what I'd be looking at there if I'm lucky enough to win.

Jack, I can handle the shipping for you.  I'm right down the road from B&E Motorsports (who is doing the raffle) and I've shipped a few bikes for the guys that race in this area.  Plus, it's what I do for a living!

As of today there are 54 tickets left to sell.

Thanks to all of those who purchased during the NJMP race this past weekend even though it was short lived due to the rain.

See you guys/gals at Summit.

54 tickets left....tell your friends/family to buy one or two or more and lets wrap this up before VIR.  Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks Joe.

We missed you at NJMP.  Lisa and I were remembering last year's rain storm and brought back memories when we were getting your awning rolled back up when lighting struck and everyone who was near the camper got shocked...WOW, what a jolt that was.  Good stuff though!

Went up to the ama race on Saturday and happy to say that we started with 52 tickets left to sell that morning and sold them all by the end of the day.  With that said, I am happy to say that the drawing for the RC8R will be held at the CCS race weekend on the 24th at VIR during the riders meeting.
I want to personally thank all of you who have participated in supporting this raffle and to make it possible to help put more airfences on the track.

Good Luck, and hope to see you at VIR.

Yep, congrats Paul!

Thanks!  I met Bob and his wife at Summit Point over the summer and bought a ticket. They are super nice people.

I picked up the bike five days ago but have only been able to put about 70 miles on it so far due to the rain and work obligations. I've been taking it easy while I get used to it. The track tires are really sticky and inspire confidence in the corners.  I am not a racer like you guys but I hope to take it to a track day.

If you find yourself passing through Easton, MD, stop by B&E Motorsports and say hi to Bob. He has a nice shop and you will get personal service!
