Title: NJMP Practice
Post by: mattbnj on February 05, 2011, 05:40:18 PM
May be a bit premature, but has there been any decisions yet on who will be running the NJMP friday practices?

Thanks Matt

I believe it Team ProMotion. Maybe check their website? I'm a member and will be racing there this year myself, see ya there?

I believe that TPM ran Friday practice in track day format last year. I don't know who is going to run Friday practice this year. Maybe NJMP themselves? In any event, TPM does not have any Friday dates on their schedule for the NJMP race weekends.

yep - no dates on TPM's website that tie into the race weekends. Maybe NJMP will be running their own race practices. Whoever does it, i hope they go to a more open format. For testing and tuning, having an open track format as opposed to a group format is so much better.

when have you ever seen an open track format for a race practice. that would be crazy and stupid unless there were only 20 bikes there, you would have everything from fast experts on liter bikes to beginning riders on
sv's and everything in between

I spoke with Rich Conrath about a month ago.  He is going to be running half day practices with endurance racing in the afternoon on Fridays.  As of a month ago TPM is not running the practice events.

So how are CCS practice sessions conducted anyhow? I'm a new racer this year and wanted to know how much track time might be expected and the cost typically.

Thanks.

If it's like last year at NJMP, you will get 2 practice sessions in the morning both saturday and sunday. Friday practice last year was run by TPM, but i have no idea who will be running the friday practice days this year.

Typically it's broken down into:
AM, EX and Lightweight Combined AM/EX (20 minute sessions)

or

LWT, MW, Unlimited (20 minute sessions)

*** For the PRACTICE DAY before the Race Weekend ***

So friday practice is indeed run just like any other typical track day then. That clears up some of the misconceptions I had about how things were conducted. Thanks,
