Thursday Night Questions.

I am pre-registered and can I avoid the huge lines on Friday Morning by showing up to Siebkin's (sp??)on Thursday night?

Where is this Siebkin's place located?

Can I enter the pits on Thursday Night after registration?

Last year I froze my ass off Friday morning waiting in line even though I was pre-registered and I missed the first practice.  I'm trying not to do it again this year.

Any help here is much appreciated.

If you arrive Thursday night, you can sign in at Seibkins and get into the track immediately.  At least that's how it was last year.  Seibkins is in downtown Elkart Lake.  From the race track's main gate by the farm house, go left.  Five minutes or so later, the road will curve right and come to a stop sign. Now you're in Elkart Lake.  Turn left.  Drive through town (Only takes a minute!)  At the far end of town, the road will turn right up a hill.  There will be a barn on your right.  Do not go up the hill, because you will be out of town.  Turn to the left at the bottom of the hill.  This street is lined with taverns.  At the far end of the street, (only about 1 1/2 blocks) is Seibkins on your left.  It's a big old hotel & bar, painted white.  I'm probably rolling out at 3:00pm Thursday. Call me if you want.  Guy has the #.

I'll be there Thursday night!

Consistent 2:24's or better is the goal...although I don't expect to be there until the Sprints, and only if the weather is decent of course.

Steve:

Don't you mean 2:24's.  Even Maladin only turned a 2:04 and that was a record.   ;)

Nate:

Paul's best lap time at RA was 2:41.88.  There are other amatuers that are a LOT faster, but this is just an idea of what a stock SV can do.

Well you know, we racers are all just squirrels trying to get a nut.  Heck i'll settle for some wood! ;D

Hopefully my arm has recovered from all of the bodywork sanding I did last week.......40oz curls might just speed up the process and if you and Joe are willing to help me train, I've got no problem compensating fairly. ;D

You cheated and changed it! LOL I figured it out anyways and 1:24 laps at R.A. works out to 171.429mph average lap speed!

I'm shooting for 2:59 laps or better! With those expectations I will probably leave R.A. feeling darn good about my accomplishments at the end of the weekend.  ;)  ;D

We will be there Thursday night for practice and GTU on Friday and the sprints through the weekend.

We've preregistered (for the races) so do we still have to go to Seibkins to pay gate fees or do we just go right to the RA gate?  I'm sorry if I'm being redundant  :-/!

Looking forward to our tropical vacation at Elkhart Lake, WI!!! ;D

I'll be there on Thurs night (if I count).  Looking to break into the 20's this year.  Steve, 24's are pretty danged fast.

If I can get into the 20's period, I'll be happy.  My fastest laps were all in the 30.xx range...

You will still need to go to Seibkins to pick up your paperwork and gate passes.

See you there and good luck!

True Jef4y,

Really fast on a SS 600....if the pavement is warm and dry it should be doable.  I always shoot for a high goal and get disappointed anyway...I have to piss myself off to get the mentality to go faster.  Which is why my GTU results last year were always the worst...I'd lollygag until someone passed me that ticked me off...not trying to but it just takes me awhile to get the edge each weekend.

I think there is a danger to not having goals high enough, though.  Last weekend I thought well Top 10's would be good...in places 5-15...and that's almost exactly what I got...6,7,10,13,15,DNF (running 10th at the time).

Aren't there any Germans out there (or took German in high school)? :) Siebken's (284 Lake St, Elkhart Lake, WI 53020). In German, ie is pronounced e, ei is pronounced i.

I will be  there on Thursday. We will be staying at my wife's favorite bed and breakfast. Great food, whirl pool tubs, and Guiness on tap.

Stop by the Learning Curves pit area, we will probably be near the gas pump area, we are going to try to get all of our students in one place.

I'm about as German as a person can get, but it doesn't mean I know how to spell.   ;)

No I never took German in high school, I didn't need to because by great grandparents spoke it.  Plus I figured that I am an American, I can just let that language go.

I took German in high school and played soccer for a couple German clubs. My German instructor said that Germans do not have spelling tests because their words are spelled like they sound (once you know how the sounds are spelled I guess).

LOL!!!

I think the reason why Germans don't have spelling tests are due to one of our personality traits.  We are never wrong!  Since spelling is not one of our strong suits - Well, if we don't have spelling tests, we cannot be wrong!

Ok another RA question  ???

Does anyone know if the gate will be open all night long?

If I get to Seibkeggers or whatever and register on Thursday, decide to partake in some spirits and maybe wander to the track at say ......4am, will I be able to get in if I have my gate passes?

Happy Easter all!

Updated weather forecast for R.A. next weekend as/per Weather.com :

Friday     - low 31 / high 44 (sounds awful familiar)
     Saturday - low 30 / high 50 (nothing quite like 30* at 8am doing 170+mph!)
     Sunday   - low 37 / high 52 (Heat Wave!)

Looks like it will start out cloudy then get sunny over the course of the weekend as of now.

I'd love to help but....

Renee get's home from school at 3:50 p.m., we have to fill up the propane tanks on the motor home, so we should be on the road about 4:30 to 5:00 p.m.  1-1/2 hours to Elkhart lake, 30 to 40 minutes at Seibkins, we should pull in about 7:00 to 7:30 p.m.  If you need any help at that time, look us up.   :-/  (Sorry)
