Title: Avoid "AZtrackdays" events
Post by: duc995@aol.com on March 29, 2003, 05:02:21 AM
Most poorly organized and least track time I have ever received in 8 years of track riding and racing.  Beware... :(

What happened? Did you do the track day yesterday?

Careful...

Might want to take it to the guys that put on the track days and talk with them.  Might be reasons, etc.

Just want to avoid problems.

If this was a track day at a new track or put on by a new organization, they may have suffered from a severe learning curve.

Dave is right.  Have a talk with the organizers, you may be surprised.

Dawn - One who has put on corportate parties for years (thank goodness I don't do them anymore   ::))

You need to be more specific with your complaints.  More specifically, there is aztrackday and teamaz (aka aztrackdays) which could cause a lot of confusion.  So, please tell us the specific event you attended and what you think may have caused the lack of track time.  I'm sure someone on here can give you a logical explantion if that's what you would like.

AZtrackday.com is not to be confused with TEAM arizona.

How can I put this...........

An owner is well known for threatening legal action over negative comments and constructive criticism regarding the company and its operations.

Many local riders have expressed concern over issues of ethics, integrity, safety and organization.
Many local riders have boycotted the owner and his organization.
Many of these riders worked for them as cornerworkers as well as having paid slots.
A few local area vendors have had very, very serious issues regarding business dealings, legal action and missuse of law enforcement.

That's all I have to say on the subject.

Well, that cleared it up for me.

All I will say is that in my personal opinion...and we are all entitled to our own...I would avoid aztrackdays.com if you have a choice for track time.

Go ahead and try them.  Make your own assessment.  Last time I checked there was nothing illegal about sampling track day organizers over an eight year period and rating them.  If that was illegal, then magazines wouldn't print tire/bike/etc. comparisons and state a 'winner'.

I guess my question wasn't specific enough, I will try again:

www.aztrackdays.com is a site for tracktime with TeamAZ

www.aztrackday.com is a site for aztrackday as a business

The two are not associated with each other but when you keep saying aztrackdays you are not really saying which is which.  What I asked is that you tell us the particular event you went to because then we can go check the schedules and verify we know which one you are talking about.

Coeff:  Since I have no idea which one you are talking about, aztrackday or Team arizona with your allegations, could you please explicitly state which one they are against.  Simply stating company a and company b are not the same then making a statement without declaring which it is in reference to makes no sense.

As a track day rider in Arizona, I can say that I have participated in track days with both organizations and didn't have any problems, which is probably the reason I am confused...

My apologies Litespeed, I see where there could be confusion so I will reply.

I was not writing of TEAM AZ.

A few months back one local board's membership suspended all dealings with and cancelled AZTrackday.com advertising because of various issues as stated above.

Another local board's membership has suspended all dealings with and cancelled AZTrackday.com advertising as of yesterday.

Today I have heard many anecdotes and stories of Friday's trackday from a number of individuals.
None of it was good.

Litespeed:  I am confused?

How does AZtrackdays, as written, make you think I might be referring to the excellent group of individuals at TEAM ARIZONA?

www.AZtrackdays.com is what I have been referring to. ;)

Sorry...didn't realize there was a "link"

As I said: T.E.A.M. Arizona rocks...www.aztrackday.com does NOT!

My "favorites" page on my AOL uses www.motorcycletraining.com to go to the TEAM Arizona site...didn't know there was another :o

Thanks for making me honest! ;D

Apologies to all. That www.aztrackdays.com site was a temporary website that I had forgotten about. It is down now. TrackTime by T.E.A.M. Arizona is the company that has been in MSF rider training since the eighties and has been running trackdays for the last five years.

We are the ones who helped put together the practice day earlier this month, and we are also going to run a practice day on April 11, since there apparently won't be CCS practice on the 12th.

$150 for the day, it will be a regular track day for us.

in my humble opinon TEAM AZ rocks.  THESE GUYS do a great job on trackdays!     Mark, thanks for the AMP event.   Despite some mechanical issues, i had a fantastic day.    If i could only catch Wayne......

Everybody:  you have got to ride the new track - AMP.  It rocks.

Just to be clear, it's T.E.A.M. Arizona, not the other guys, who are running the practice/track day on April 11 at Firebird East. Call to sign up: (480)998-9888

$150. If enough sign up, the rate slides down and we make refunds. This policy applies only to our CCS practice dates.

Mark,

Are you gonna have this track day the same as last time where it was open practice or is it gonna be like a regular track day with three 20 min groups?

My vote is for the open practice  ;D ;D ( i thought it went great last time).

:patrick

PS- Is anyone going to have lap timers for rent?

It depends on how many riders show up. If it's light like last time, we'll stay open for the day. If we have a crowd, we'll need to go to sessions.

Most likely we'll play it by ear. For practice days, no-sessions is definitely the way to go. As long as everyone plays nice, it will work.

In regrads to Robert's original post, I don't feel last Friday represented the normal aztrackday.com event.  Due to several factors such as demo riders & AHRMA racers on track, lack of staffing because it was a Friday, etc. things did not go well.  The staff has already sent out an apology and is meeting to ensure preventing a day like the 28th from happening again.
I'll admit that I am not going to appear to be unbiased in this matter, I built their web site, ride with them regularly and was the pace keeper for the Ducati demo rides.
With just the Ducati rides I knew there were going to be problems.  After the first round of rides, the Ducati rep yelled at me for going too fast with the group.  It was understood prior to the event that I should keep pace with the group we were in, as to not cause a traffic jam.  He said "No way!  Never pass anyone and never go over 80mph!"  It was really frustrating taking people down the straights at 80, being passed by guys doing 160.  The only other choice was to cancel the demo rides, which incidentally Aprilla did, or try to keep my group out of trouble. I was really happy that no demo riders had any incidents, but being that front guy sucked.
I can assure you aztrackday.com will never hold an event like that again.
If anyone has some constructive critisim, please post it or email me.  I'm only the web master for them, but I know they are doing what they can to make every trackday better than the last.

That's cool, Mark. Looking forward to Friday nonetheless... need any corner worker help?

Do you know if anybody's gonna have lap timers for rent Friday?

We are set for track staff, don't know about the timers. I'll have to check with Kyle on that.

We'll have lap timing equipment on Friday. I'll be picking up the Helmet Harbor gear on Thursday, so we'll have rentals on Friday.
