Title: Did anyone not crash this year.
Post by: Team Spalding on November 16, 2007, 09:28:43 AM
This was my first year of racing and it seems like more people crash than do not. I know I did and was just curious about everyone else.

Anyone make it through a full season this year without crashing?

Not me.

I didn't crash in 2006, 2005, and 1992.

There are two kinds of racers:

Those that have crashed, and those that will crash.

And yeah, crashing sux. Big Time.

Not me. I went down twice at Blackhawk this year. Low slide at Turn 4 and high side at Turn 6. So the left side of my bike got really beat up. Good thing Mark & Kyle at RRP is fixin things up! Now where's that Visa card at?  :spank:

I wish I could say I did... because that would have meant I got to race at least one more time this year.  SHORT season for me  :wah:

Maybe next year I can fall down

Crashed twice. once in an MCRA challenge series race, highside coming out of the chicane, and once at road america, lost the front wheel making a pass for the lead, easy lowside into a triple barrel rolling double back flip that the russian judge screwed me on and gave me a 7.2

I crashed once in 06' when I went straight off turn 7 at Blackhawk. Thank goodness for the ant hill. No crashes for 07. Although I had a few close calls at Road America.

BTW Alexa not everyone crashes.  My Dad raced 86-88 for ccs/ama and brought home his share of 1st-5th place plaques and didn't crash once.

I did pretty good this year with only one wreck. though it was a roughest get off i've ever had by far. on the front straight of all places.
i had a good time though. had some close calls, got sideways, and swapped paint several times this year and kept it up and out of the grass.

The championship means you were pushing hard with no crashes as an Am. Congrats and that is impressive.

Court Jester,

How did you crash going straight? Sounds dangerous because we all know straights are where we go the fastest.
Title: Re: Did anyone not crash this year.
Post by: Court Jester on November 16, 2007, 09:09:55 PM
i have no clue what happened. i let off the gas and waiting for the guy beside me to hit the breaks before i hit mine. don't know why but the bike started hopping side to side before i touched the breaks and i did a 135mph face plant and 80 to 100 yards worth of flips. went away with a concussion, busted blood vessel in my eye, and a broken ankle. Not bad considering the speed and how many times I flipped.

Thanks for the comment..i think i missed the opener at daytona and CMP..i just knew that i needed to ride hard to win a championship and sitting in the pits working on the bike while everyone else races is NO way to win!! Congrats to all, fast or slow, that didnt "eat it" this year..

No crashes for me in 10 events this year which was my first expert year.  I made good progress throughout the year missing my first expert podium by a wheel length (I was on a 600, and a 750 which I had passed only 15 seconds earlier motored me at the line)

No crashes 1991 thru 2001 (tank slapper & near crash at Summit Pt in 1999 didn't count), Highside at MAM 2002 - many broken things & surgeries, none 2003 thru 2005, 2006 Crash at MPH following Polen around - collarbone, 2007 no crashes

In the 1 CCS and 1 ASRA events I competed in - I didn't fall off.... In the 3 Moto-St events I competed in Zero crashes..... In the 11 AMA events - I don't know for sure - I think I fell off 10 times... But considering the amount of times your on the track running 2 classes in AMA - I don't think it's that bad.... Some were my fault - some were due to other people and some do to track conditions.... The way I look at it - It's ok to fall if you know why you fell... You continue to learn all the time and if you can learn why you fell - you know what to do differently next time your in that situation....

I have been pretty lucky... been racing since 1992 and had my last wreck in 1999 on my old Hawk in the rain at Summit...

zero wrecks with my 2000 SV-650 from 2000-2005 (though it fell off the stands my last weekend in 2005 at Summit Point Shendoah in the rain.. ugh!)

Swtiched to a GSXR-600 last year and have had a couple of close calls but have kept it looking nice til an amateur hit me at Summit Shenendoah this year.. nice scratches to show for it but no wreck...

Just trying to keep it in one piece every time I head out there..

No road crashes, but I did low-side Bob's (B&E Motorsports in MD) dirtbike last Sunday in my MX debut.  (Not a race just tooling around)
Almost binned it again too...... came MIGHTY CLOSE to doing a front flip coming down from a little double.  IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!

I need to stay away from dirtbikes...... Uh oh, new hobby.

BHF - what's there to like about the place??... crashed once during a F40 race avoiding someone in front of me that cut my line which killed any chance at a SS championship, crashed in the rain during a GT light turn 6 and turn 6 again in practice - came up on a heavyweight that had already turned in.  Cannot complain because I did not get hurt... No problems at RA or Topeka and I miss Gingerman and Autobahn

I can explain it easily. You can flying up the inside of me after I was turning in. You cleaned off my swingarm spool, dented my muffler and mid pipe. I remember braking for 6 and starting to turn in when out of the corner of my eye, I see a front wheel. WTF! The next thing, the back of my bike is sliding opposite of where I want to go. So I countersteer and go off into the grass. I stopped at the cornerworker station outside by the road. I look back and there you are lying in the middle of the track. I am glad that you were't hurt though. Shoot, if I remember correctly, I even helped you fix you bike!

Racing, only one unintentional dismount this year. I got taken out by a guy trying to run up underneath going into T3 at BHF in the Sep. round. Damn shame because I got a decent start and was hoping to get away with the fast guys and break into the :13s.

I can't tell if its a good or a bad thing overall because it kept me at 394 points by taking me out w/ no points for that race and the next one I was signed for.

I did well in the hand-full of races I entered this year. I had no issues even in practice. I am 42 years old with two kids and strictly ride in my comfort zone. It went to crap last weekend at a private track day put together by a friend. My comfort zone got way quicker. I lost the front in turn 2 at Jennings. Destroyed my left femur and broke my left arm. My new employer fired me just in time for Christmas. I am a total ass. I will pull through, but my kids pay the price. Be careful out there!
