Title: Still looking for Potatohead 07
Post by: EX_#76 on September 17, 2007, 05:08:17 PM
I am still looking for the 07 potatohead.  Now that the season is winding down, you do not have to worry about repercussions due to exposing your fellow racers buffoonery and or anti-intellectualism.

I got two or three decent candidates (names will be withheld so don't bother asking) but, I want to make sure that the choice is truly the most deserving individual.

Soooo, post or pm me with your recollection of events as you see them, and may the biggest idiot win the coveted prize!!

Guy, I'm not really sure you could call the evidence presented at your award ceremony a "Photograph", I think the correct term would actually be "Banner".

My guess is that this selection process will be a lot of fun for you, it's just too bad I wasn't able to compete this year.

Hawk - I don't think falling off of plane qualifies even though very spectacular because appart from being the unfortunate victim - you really didn't do anything worng which would have caused this...

Hawk did nothing to even warrent honorable mention (that I know of).  I was just pointing out that you do not have to be an "active racer" to be considered.  I certainly would not give the award to anyone who is a victim (that is just cruel).  However the fella who moved the plane might just deserve it!!

Anyway, Steve do you know somthing?  Something you would like to share?  Come on and tell us what Hawk did!!

Oh man this is more fun than I have had in a while.

That day the track seemed a little more slippery than the normal (?) wet track to me.
I think you should just use slicks in the rain from now on  LOL
Mark Styles won the award by crashing after taking the checkers, and taking out Danny Bilansky (the race winner) as he was approaching turn 1.

Yes as long as the person is involved in racing somehow, husband, wife, cornerworker, announcer ect.   The only rule I am aware of is that this is a Midwest region award.

How about a guy who had to be taught how to change the wheels on his bike after racing 4-5 races. We got tired of doing it for him. Then after being reminded repeatedly to double check all bolts, almost losing the front wheel in the morning warm up. It gets better! He then arrives on the crash truck, and proceeds to blame us for not checking his work. He is nolonger on the team.

That could be a winner.  Is this person from the midwest region?

No. Florida region, but maybe we can make it a national award. We can get together at Daytona and compare regional winners, then choose a national winner. lol

It's easy to start the potato head.

Step one: Purchase a basic Mr Potato Head toy.

Step two: Make sure recipient will be in attendance at your regional banquet.

Step three: Make flowery, embarrasing, yet true speech about how said recipient earned the (not so) coveted MPH Award.

Step four: The following year, the MPH holder gets to observe all bone headed, idiotic, mostly stupid and definitely embarrassing goings on during the season. He (or she) can arrive at his/her successors choice in any manner possible, provided the tradition lives on!

The Potato Head on Guys leathers was paid for by forum members through donations to the Red Flag Fund. The MPH Trophy is what will pass to the next recipient.

However, I believe that Guy is willing to part with said artwork provided there is another drive to raise additional cash for the Red Flag Fund. We'll let Guy figure that part out for himself, though. ;)

I must admit it will be really hard to pull something off that would be better (and live to tell).  I look at the trophy each day and read the previous offences and think to my self "I am the king of the potatoes"  The award will definitely be passed on.  I might just keep the potato on the leathers. I kinda like it.  I have not fully decided yet.  If the potato for the leathers does get passed along, it will take a willing participant and another donation to the red flag fund.

I think that Guy should keep his leathers but have 2006 listed under it. That way everyone will know he won the award for the 2006 season. After all, Guy does love that award so much!

Guy, what did you do?

Lets all have yet one more laugh

At Gingermann last fall, I high sided in turn 4 in the last practice session on Saturday.  4th gear, back stepped out and I couldn't save it.  Ground sky ground sky ground sky ground sky....  Bike hits me, Ground sky ground sky ground sky ground sky...I tumbled forever, I was at the entrance of the next turn before I stopped.  I stood up, and everything seemed OK I could walk but I knew I was going to be sore.  I had a large hole (big enough to put my fist through) in my leathers on my left knee above the padding in that flexible wrinkle leather.  Go to the ambulance take my gear off to find I have a silver dollar sized hole in my knee, down to the kneecap.  It looked really freaky we were all playing with it moving it around and stuff.  Bike is in good shape, ground the bodywork, but nothing that can't be fixed, broken throttle tube and housing, ground up peg, broken master cylinder.

I hopped in Ed's wife's car and drive to the hospital, get stitched up and left.  I was trashed, all of the adrenalin had worn off and I was sacked out.  I then ran a red light on the way back to the track and got into a car accident!!!  Life could not have been much worse at that point.  I had looked up saw a green light, but I was back a bit from the intersection.  I started to look for street signs to find my way back to the track.  In that amount of time the light must have changed, and some one was fast on the light...  I T-boned him.

Think the total damages to the car was around $4500.00

I can not remember a worse day (in terms of my own scew up) in my entire life!!  I am just thankfull that no one was seriously hurt and the Key's seemed to take it in stride.  I called Ed to give him the bad news and all he could do is laugh.  Barb seem to enjoy it equally, spreading the new to everyone she could.  Linda Manner (registration offical) wanted me to just sign my entry refund over to Barb for trashing her car.  My wife was no where near as humored as the Key's.  She was very displeased with my activities.  She has not really wanted me to go racing in another state since.

With all the abuse he's undoubtedly received over the last year you knew this was inevitable.....

Drugs Hidden in Mr. Potato Head Toy

SYDNEY, Australia (AP) -- Customs officers discovered nearly 10.5 ounces of ecstasy tablets hidden inside a Mr. Potato Head toy sent to Australia from Ireland, the agency said Thursday.

Upon opening the parcel, the officers were greeted with the smiling face of the popular children's toy, which features a potato-like head and removable facial features. But when they removed a panel from the back of the toy, the officers found 10.34 ounces of ecstasy in a plastic bag.

The Australian Customs Service referred the matter to federal police, but no arrests were immediately made, the agency said. The maximum penalty for importing drugs to Australia is life imprisonment.

"Whilst this is one of the more unusual concealments that we have seen in recent times, people need to be aware that Customs officers are alert to unusual and often outlandish methods of concealment," Customs Director Post Karen Williams said.

I wonder how people come up with these ideas, and expect to get away with it.

I'm not so sure about that, you seemed to have a pretty good time with it this year. Maybe the reason you can't find a good candidate is you secretly want to hold the prestigious award for yet another year.

I have had a good time with the whole thing.  The sad thing is that this was a real quite year for achievements in baffoonery.  So the next recipeints deed will likely pale in comparison to my day from hell making the awards ceramony sort of anti-climatic.

SOOOOOO, SOMEONE COUGH UP SOME GOOD DIRT MAN!!!  IT'S GOOD FOR THE PARTY

But part of the fun is the right recipient, wink wink, nudge nudge...say no more...

Could we consider changing the award (perhaps) temporarity to Mr Humpty Dumpty?  This would make the next recipient pretty obvious.....

Hey Guy.......

I crashed the Suzuki I got from you guys four times in one weekend up at the Big Woods 200 dual sport ride last month. Oh yeah, got it stuck a couple times too. But alas, no damage to machine or rider. It was all low speed stuff.

But, nah, that wouldn't count towards the MPH Award. Besides I've had it once already and to get it twice would take something truly extrordinary........so, keep looking.

Gordon, I don't think he was aiming for you.

Now if you could explain just how you managed to get that beast stuck, That must have been one BIG mud puddle, or was it the trees were too close together kind of stuck. Glad to hear you're enjoying your new toy.

I think that toy is getting enough use that it wouldn't be considered 'new' anymore!

Gordy, that's no where near your accomplishment. I mean you got a souvenir out of it!
(I can still hear Guy screaming as I type this...priceless!)

True, the newness has worn off, along with some engine case finish and maybe a little else.

Stuck as in ending up cased on a tree stump, buried in very deep sand on a hillside and yes a water hazard with multiple tire ruts. When the front goes one way and the rear another it makes for a sticky situation.

All fun as hell though........... I should have taken up this off road stuff a long time ago, these old bones struggle out there a bit.

When I first read that I thought it might make a good ad for a porno movie... you know like:

'DEBBIE DOES DIRTBIKES'
When the front goes one way and the rear another it makes for a sticky situation!
