We are setting up my friends bike(f3) for the track, we put in the rear shock last night but he needs new fork seals now, He cannot afford to get them "redone" with springs and valves, But if we put a heavy weight oil in the stock fork would it be better for the track?? And what seals do you recommend(the stop leaks already started to leak!) :D
Stock seals are best. And use the recommened oil wieght.
The stock seals are made by NOK, so as long as you can get the same NOK seal regardless of its source, you should be fine.
Only install heavier oil if the damping is inadequate. Even then, you may not get the results you might expect, as the stock Showa pistons are equipped with funny radial grooves that honk-up the low-speed damping. Also, heavier oil tends to be more sensitive to temperature changes than lighter oil.
If the rider's weight is fairly low (145-150), the stock springs might be okay. They're listed in the HRC Power-Up manual as one of the valid racing configurations.
