Title: Homestead Hotel/Motel
Post by: MightyDuc Racing on January 29, 2003, 05:19:13 AM
Where does everybody stay for the Homestead races?  Is there a special deal anywhere, or just try to find one not in the "hood"?

Many of us usually stay at the Travelodge, as I did at last month's race. It cost about $37 then. I just called last night to reserve a room and was told that the special race rate is $79! It's $89 if not going to the races! Welcome to high season.

Here is a link for other hotels listed on the Homestead site:http://www.racemiami.com/travel/1hotels.htm but I assume they will all be as, or more, expensive. Since I am currently laid off, I can't afford to pay another $175 for two nights on top of all the other costs. I was thinking about sleeping in the bed of my pickup or camping out somewhere.

I have tentatively decided to use some Holiday Inn points, but, unfortunately, the closest one is 20 miles away in Coral Gables. Sure wish I had some friends in South FL. I am close enough to Moroso to at least drive there early on Saturday.

Have you been to or raced at Homestead? :o

Nope...never raced at all.  This will be my first time there.  I am in Cape Coral, so I'll be driving over Saturday morning for the Kinsey school, so I'm just staying one night.  I found a Comfort Inn for $69.99 + tax in Florida City (about 5 miles from the track) too.  Their number is (305)248-4009.  Anybody know if the place is a dump or not?  I haven't reserved it yet, though...still looking.  Days Inn is $109...screw them...lol.

By the way Chris, what classes do you ride that twin in?  I will be riding GT Lights, Lightweight GP, and Supertwins.  My Duc is a 944 with a white frame and white Dymags with Red 916 bodywork on it...hard to miss...and I'll be pulling it with a Silver Acura CL...be sure to look me up.

Oh yeah, I've been to Homestead twice to watch...once last June and at the last round in December.  Looks like a really nice place to race.  I can't frigging wait!!!

Please be advised that the Travelodge and Comfort Inn drop their rates for us everytime we race at Homestead. The rate is $69. + tax in Feb. (season) and $37. + tax in June and Dec. Call the Travelodge at 800-758-0618. They also own the Comfort Inn and will put you there if they fill up. They always have treated CCS racers and crews well and the rooms are always very clean. For discounts at hotels for Moroso and Jennings, call me. 561 793-3394.

If there are more than 2 adults and you aren't gonna sneak the rest in...comfort and travel charge $10 per person over two...the Ramada didn't charge for the extra people and it was $69/night.  I hope it's clean.   ;D

I get my information straight from the management and we can have up to 4 in each room at no extra charge. We have been doing this for 5 years. So who ever told you that does not know what they are talking about. Count on it, you do not have to sneak anyone into these hotels!

MightyDuc
What is your number? Assuming I finish getting my crash damage repaired, I will be in Old Farts er, Formula 40, and with you in the supertwins. I am thinking about both superbike and supersport, but with the high cost of tires and several crashes last year, I think I will stay with just the two classes for now.
My Aprilia Mille will hopefully be blue with #30 on it.

No number yet..I get it after taking Kinsey's school saturday morning, I guess.  They won't let you apply for your license until after you've taken the class.  You can't miss me, it's Butch Verdecchia's old Duc.

Great! if you ever have any problems with our recommended hotels in the future, please let me know. We give them a lot of business. So if a clerk gives our people incorrect information I need to know as it affects our people and the hotel's income.

Thanks
