I ran 15 front and a 45 rear on my 2000 GSXR 750 at Blackhawk Farms.

I ran stock gearing on my 01 GSXR600, stock HP, and it was not right coming onto the front straight.  It was either bog in 2nd gear at 8K RPM or bump the redline in 1st.  Of course, that's the most important corner on the course...

I don't know the correct gearing at BHF, other than what I had was not correct.  It was really the only track wher eI had a serious problem with stock gearing, though.  Not that there isn't some time to be found in finding better gearing for each track.

Holy cow!  You ran two down on the front?  I thought that was 'considered' a little extreme.  Did you have any trouble with the chain tearing apart the rubber chaingard, etc?  I know that I never hit sixth gear, but thought that nobody did.  I wonder what everybody else was running?

On a separate note... I was thinking about maybe bringing my forks to the banquet for you to Traxxion.  (you know, save on shipping one way)  I will give you a call to see if this would work or whether I should just send them to you.  Kevin gave me your number.

By the way.  Mike, I can get you Sprocket Specialist sprockets if you need them.  DID and RK chains too.  Email me at ccsracer13@yahoo.com if you are interested.

I have always used 16/47 on my 750 at BHF. I do hit 6th gear on the main straight running this combination and have to shift a little more often. I like the acceleration better than the 16/45 gearing (awesome for holeshots!), but you do have to be careful of getting too much wheel spin out of the turns. The 16/45 gearing isn't quite as harsh as the 16/47 gearing and ultimately makes the bike easier to ride, but to each their own!
The stock gearing on the GSXR 750 (17/43) will actually work quite well at Road America if your really fast there. I use 17/44 or 17/45 myself at R.A. as a compromise, you may end up topping out at the end of the 3 top speed sections with this gear (just watch the tach) but you have a better drive out of each of those 14 turns.

Yes, gearing can help with your lap times! getting the  gearing right may help you go faster.

Road America, GSXR 750 gearing  17/41 or 42.

CCSRacer13 call me and I will give you the low down.

Thanks

Seems like I was using a 16/41 or something like that.  Or a 15/39.  I really depended upon how I wanted the wheelbase....

Mike I ran a +3 rear on mine (what is that, a 45?) and it was perfect for BHF.  If you're still on a stock chain, I have two rear +3 sprockets.. you can have one if you want.
