Title: Tire hell
Post by: gkotlin on August 30, 2006, 10:05:15 PM
I haven't even started racing.   But I've seen a few of your garages.  What do you do with old tires?   They're every where in my garage.

I've got tires that are completely shot.  One is burned to the belts from a rim I bought.  The others are just used up.

Used up as in how? Shredded? Showing cords? Just used up for racing?

I sell or give away my takeoffs depending on how bad they are.

If you don't want them and are buying tires at the track, leave your takeoffs with the tire vendor...  (or dump your trailer full with them in the middle of the night and blame edgar)

hey..... :-)

Actually, the tire vendors at the track will take them, or you can bring them to your local recycling place. There are certain facilities that allow you a set number of tires to be turned in a year. Usually the places that take car batteries and such.

I guess I'll have to do some digging.  I just didn't want to pay a disposal fee for all of them.  I guess if someone bids anything on ebay and pays the shipping, then I'm ahead.  It's better then paying to get rid of them.  I bought some wheels and one tire was used for a burn out to the belts.

Thanks for the input.  I bought one set from you already Jeff.  I have to clean out my garage to make room for more.

I saw on the Simpsons that they just put them in a pile and burn them.  Wonder if my neighbors would complain.   Maybe I'll put them in my smoker grill and just tell them it's some bad BBQ.  haha.....

Isn't there a big pallet fire at Blackhawk every Saturday night?
