UPCOMING MEMORIAL DAY RACE WEEKEND AT MAM
May 27/28 2006 - MAM - TrackAddix GP Race Weekend - Great Plains
and Mid West CCS sanctioned combined event.
An important reminder - the upcoming event at MAM is operated by
TrackAddix. If you're planning to race, you must DOWNLOAD YOUR
PRE-ENTRY FORM FROM THE TRACKADDIX WEBSITE, and submit it to
TrackAddix - do not send the form to CCS, or you won't get
registered.
PRE-REGISTRATION DEADLINE
If you hate waiting in lines as much as we do, pre-paying all of
your gate, transponder rental, practice, and race entry fees
will make registration lines move faster. Grid positions are
assigned by order of registration, so pre-registering will also
get you a better grid spot. Pre-entries for the upcoming weekend
at MAM close on MAY 17, 2006.
TRANSPONDERS
For those of you who are interested in purchasing your very own
personal transponder, we now have them available FOR SALE. We
have a direct-power unit that connects to your bike's battery
for $325, or the rechargeable kit is available for $365.
Quantities are limited, so let us know if you're interested in
purchasing one, or visit the TrackAddix trackside store at the
MAM event.
TRACKADDIX TEAM CHALLENGE
We hope to see a lot of you in the Team Challenge this season.
Remember, all four of the classes in Team Challenge pay cash
purses. A few people have contacted us about pricing - just a
reminder that the $175 fee is for the entire team (not the
individual riders on the team). So get together with your
racing buddies, split the cost, and get more race time.
TRACKADDIX PURSE PAYING SPRINT CLASSES
Three purse paying sprint classes in expert and amateur-
MWSS, HWSB and UnlGP.
Upcoming Events:
May 29, 2006 - MAM - TrackAddix Track Day and School of Speed
June 16, 2006 - HPT - CCS Race Weekend - Mid West, Great Plains
and ASRA combined event.
More info at-
www.trackaddix.com
I'm assuming that the Heartland Park ASRA event will be a CCS controlled and pre-entered event though?
Thanks, you are correct Mike, use the CCS website/forms when pre-registering for the HPT ASRA event.

Does TrackAddix use a different type of transponder than CCS?
Are transponders handled differently with TrackAddix (as far as handout at registration, mounting, or anything else important to know)?
Thanks

Jason,
TrackAddix is using the AMB system. It is different than the transponders you are used to with other CCS regions. You can supply your own or rent one. One of the nice features of AMB is that the lap times can be posted on mylaps.com by the event, so you can view your times on the net. You can also go to mylaps to see what are the fast times per track, by class. I know WERA and CMRA also use AMB/mylaps. You will pick up your transponder at registration, not sure if the mounting clip is identical or not, we are testing the system this Thursday so I will get you more info then.
Thanks,
Randy

Randy,
Thanks for the info, I already own an AMB transponder so I'm glad I asked. Will get it out and charged up before we leave for MAM.
Thanks

FYI.... talked with Dean yesterday.
He said a revised daily schedule for the first MAM racing weekend should be updated on their website by today. Shouldn't be any major changes..... just some minor tweaking to the daily time schedule and sequence of events.
Cool. Where do you see that? All I see is...
Friday: Practice hosted by Mid-America Motorplex.
Saturday: Practice, and Team Challenge.
Sunday: Sprint Races.
This is the only schedule I've found.......
http://www.trackaddix.com/track/forms/GP_Race_Day_Sched_2006.pdf
Not 100% sure if there are still adjustments coming.
We just posted an updated race day schedule specific for this weekends race. A hardcopy of the race day schedule will be handed out to all racers when they check in at registration. A link to a .pdf version can be found on the following page:
http://trackaddix.com/?race=1&pview=TRA-275-2006-05-27-28-GP
It also specifies the group structure for the practice sessions on Saturday.

Is there any reason we can't run the three 25 minute GT races after lunch Saturday in lieu of another single round of practice prior to th riders meeting? The riders meeting can be moved to 2:30?
That or run MW SS, LW SS, HWSS, F 40, and UNSS (in that order) after lunch Saturday? That would allow more time to substitute LW races in between races 15-17. The way it is now many of us will have 3 and 4 back to back. 6 and 7 back to back. And, 15, 16, and 17 back to back to back.
:wtf: Real nice.....Pre enter for races according to the posted weekend schedule and the shedule gets revised 3 days before the event!! Now I`ve got 3 back to back in the am and 2 in the pm! HEY! Now I know where the former AMA employees that quit are working!
well... i like the new schedule... my back to back races are gone now! :thumb:
well you must be the minority here. most guys with middleweight bikes like to do some heavyweight and even unlimited stuff. If you look at it that way there are going to be alot of breaks between races for alot of guys!
yep, im in hwss, hwsb and ulgp (as well as mwss, mwsb and gtu) none of witch are now back to back 8)
irregardless of who is hurt or who benefits from the schedule change, it`s not right to change it this late in the game. many people enter specific races based on the schedule. :kicknuts:
yer right... ccs wouldnt change the ra schedule cuz of that very reason, so i did 2 back to backs then 3 back to backs... 3 sucks. i feel yer pain!
I guess no one else has noticed that instead of 8 laps, we are now down to 7...
Yeah!!!!
Thanks for the great news....3 Days before the event... :jerkoff:
I entered classes so I wouldn't have back to back races, but thanks for changing the schedule so now I do.....
If you pre-enter knowing that you will have back to back that is one thing...
I have more back to backs at Heartland Park (btw the sprints are 7 laps there too) than I do at a TrackaddixGP event. I've also seen the schedule change the day of the event before.
It's the first weekend of a new series, it ain't going to go perfect but this is the best thing to come along for the Great Plains region in sometime. I say give Dean a break, he will be working hard to make us happy. -Snack
:whine: With the new schedule, I hope there will be a Dr. @ MAM. I have three races in a row. Race #6 HWSS #7 ULSS #8 F-40 (this right here is a heart-attack waiting to happen) also race #15 HWSB & #16 ULSB. What's wrong with the old schedule-? :banghead:

I can't speak for the masses...
For myself, I looked at the schedules for Road America, Topeka and Black Hawk, when I decided what races to run.
This one GP region race was not factored in.
Had the schedule remained the way it was posted, I am sure it would have caused more issues.
Honestly... they had GTO and GTU run back to back...
There are poeple like myself that run both these GT races.
As far as people only runnning the GP region...
Well this is only there 2nd race weekend...
If they need to make class adjustment, due to the change...
Well its still early in the year.
So Kudos, for the change!
XIII :ass:
I don't know... Schedules constantly change. It wouldn't surprise me if this one changed again on race day.
I know that if they move Sun races to Saturday, there will be a MASSIVE amount of complaint though as the schedule has always had all races (except the TC) on Sun, so people have planned their weekends around that.
I'm just wondering how late Sunday will run... That's a LOT of races to run in one day, and the 3 GT races will cut into the time pretty significantly.
If everything runs smooth and no red flags, nobody falls down, sure it will work. However, in reality.......
Just roll with the punches and enjoy the racing...
I wonder if several racers from different classes could get together with ccs and try to come up with some better scheduling? I`m sure it would probably end up as a clusterfuck but might be worth trying?
No better place than right here...
Produce a schedule and we can present it! The problem is getting people to agree on ANYTHING.

This should allow all MW Riders to bump up into all Heavyweight and UNL Classes...You would only have 1 back to back in HWSB and UNSB, but and could make a choice to do one or the other, or run the one back to back...
Unless you're F40 like Tommy G who will still have 3 back-to-back races...
With MAM being a tight technical track can you imagine how many people will be grided in the mw classes. There might be 30 experts and 30 novice give or take. Thats 60 to 65 people on that track at one time. You know there are going to be some red flags, a crash or two, and other unfortunate things. Giving 20 mins per race is a little unrealistic I thnk. It seems that having practice for most of the day on saturday is a waste of a good day for racing. How many teams have signed up for Sat.
Unless you are a Heavyweight 40y/o wanting to bump up to unlimited. Then you would have a back to back to back in the mourning, and a back to back in the afternoon. They would have trouble getting on the bus to go back to the "home" after that. -Snack

I thought that too. But when you look at the schedule for HPT there are 4 ASRA qualifing rounds fallowed by 12 seven lap spints after lunch on Saturday. http://www.ccsracing.com/schedules/2006/HPT%20June%20ASR-CCS%20Schedule.pdf

Think Blackhawk...
It's no brainerd either. By the time the first wave is off and the second one starts it will look like the Bristol Nascar race.

Not bad.
But...
If you're a middleweight F40 guy who likes to run HWT and UNL you could have two back to backs in the mourning alone. Here in lies the problem, you are never going to be able to make everyone happy. If you schedule for the guys who run LWT and MWT bikes then guys with MWT bikes who like to race up are going to complain, so on and so forth.
randy's my buddy and all, but how many F40 guys run 750's? how many guys run 750's out there period (compared to 600's and 1k's). Plus he just gets faster the more ya push him... keep some oxygen on hand and give him a break to swap out his BPH's (big people huggies) in the back to back to back races and he'll still podium...
too many classes in one day, no way to make everyone happy. Ideally squeeze something in saturday would alleviate some of the issues... even if its just ONE GT race. Or a few less attended sprints... am UNSB and supertwins maybe? I dont have the answers.
People are used to racing sat and sunday... I like the idea of extended practice on saturday... but if it makes the series survive maybe limit practice and get the GT's and TC out of the way saturday... sprints on sunday. lotsa a possibilities = lotsa ways to piss off people were happy, to accomodate those who arent...
I dont think it'll matter once the track goes green... lets see how it goes, if you dont like the final schedule you can always make changes to your schedule. Maybe Dean can try to honor grid positions for those that switch classes based on the schedule change? If your worried bout that kinda thing...

That is something too that people need to consider. CCS is a NEW company in 2006, and the GP region is 100% new to business. From my perspective, CCS has done an incredible job at keeping the regional series' around the COUNTRY running without interruption through all this.
There were many things that changed in the GP region of the new CCS. Registration is different, fees are different, now I have to pay for a transponder, etc etc etc... I'm looking at it as running an entirely new series this weekend and collecting points for my MW program.
It's kinda like the time I ran fasttraxx up at Grattan. Different, but fun. This will be more fun though as the people will all be familiar...
Give it a chance... And the Saturday practice for $45? You can't beat that with a stick...

If we get Grids of 60 to 65 bikes Dean would be in a very happy position to consider changes.
7 lap sprint races at MAM every 20 min is very realistic.
Red flags shouldn't be a problem as long as we can get to Simon and threaten him that we'll only pick him up once for the day.
Last year at MAM he collected enough Frequent Flyer miles on the crash truck that I think he got a free ticket to Poland! :kicknuts:

All this pressure to catch Timmay from the second wave gives me performance anxiety, and since I am an old man I guess I'll have to have an extra Depends and little blue pill ready for me in the pits.
As far as schedules are concerned, you can't please everyone for sure. This is Dean's first season and I know he is doing everything possible to make racing in the Great Plains good for us. I like having racing close to where I live, without TrackAddix setting up the GP series I'd have to drive 8-hours+ to race. As a racer I will support him and help him make it successful.
See you all this weekend at MAM. I'll be the gray haired guy with diapers passing Timmay by turn 6.
