Title: Performance Index
Post by: grasshopper on July 28, 2005, 10:19:15 AM
Will someone kindly explain what the performance index of a CCS/FUSA/AMA rider means.

I have an OK idea, but I'd like to hear some explanations.

Thanks

basically it is like a batting average

number of riders in race -those that finished in front of you divided by the total number of riders in race

IE if there are 15 people in race and you finish 5 then 4 people in front of you (15-4)/15= .73

Ok, so it's a percentage of how well you did among riders that started the race.

So, finishing in last among two competitors, the index is .500

And finishing last among fifty riders is .020

And a win is a win...regardless of how many finishers...one or one thousand.
