Title: Odd Question
Post by: Nate R on December 01, 2002, 09:05:01 PM
Can anyone tell me what the purpose of having the sweatband-like piece of material over the master cylinder resivoir is? I've seen it in many a picture, but I never knew why it was there.

Anyone?

Well, it goes back a ways.  I guess it's two fold.  The white will reflect the heat of the sun.  The sweat band portion will absorb any fluid that might come out the breather portion of the resevoir.

To soak up any brake fluid that would leak out if the bike was laying down. (like after a low-side)

To keep the UV rays off of the fluid.

I've got one on bike because it makes me look faster.

...Hey, you do what you gotta do when you are pitted under the same canopy as Hanson.

Sweat band right? To collect sweat!

No, what they said above.
