Drunken bicyclist winds up in jail
The Post-Crescent
APPLETON — A 35-year-old Appleton man was headed to jail Tuesday night after falling off his bicycle and knocking himself unconscious.
Police were called to Packard and Story streets about 6:15 p.m. on reports of an unconscious and unresponsive bicyclist in the road.
"There was no vehicle involved," said Lt. Diane Kathrein. "He fell off his bicycle head first. He was highly intoxicated."
The man was taken to a hospital, and when he is medically cleared, will be transferred to the Outagamie County Jail for violating probation by drinking, she said.
