Post by: pitbtch#1 on April 10, 2005, 09:48:32 AM
i found a 03 600rr for sale online. It caught my eye because of the price 1500 dollars.  I was wondering if i should look more into it.  The bike is located in london england.  The seller said he would pay to ship it over here.  I just want your guys opinion on it

Unless you have someone you know and trust with your money that can handle the transaction over there on your behalf, I wouldn't mess with it. That way if something goes bad, you can handle it over there.  Otherwise your leaving yourself open to all kinds of crap.  Don't do a check, or wire, or cash.  You need to do it in person, or your leaving yourself wide open to get scammed.  Wire transfers give the person too much information.  Plus, you have no guarantees.  If you have someone there that can do everything for you and even ship it, I wouldn't touch it.

I just sold an old dirtbike online and got 2 out of country responses. Like they don't have cheap dirtbikes in Europe. IT IS A SCAM. Don't even respond to stuff like that.

Not that it really matters in this situation, but I've always wondered:

If a bike is stolen overseas, and the VIN is logged as stolen in that country, would that get caught in the U.S. when it's registered?  Always wondered that.  I know that VIN numbers don't mean jack in some countries, and that's why people steal high end cars here and ship them overseas and sell them.  Just wondering.  International VIN system  ???

Buy it.

When you get it, call me.

I'll buy it from you for TWICE what you paid.

Even at 1500 pounds, it's too cheap.  The only deal here is that the seller will be profiting whatever you end up sending him...

RUN FOREST RUN!!!

Heath, why the he11 would you buy a bike from England when there are plenty of bikes right here in the midwest that you could purchase? Just be patient and don't force it, the right bike will come along.

Set a reasonable budget, buy from someone you know or at the very least someone you can see face to face so you can look at the title and the bike. Rmemeber that long distance transactions are complicated and expensive. Shipping a bike cross country can cost $200-300 dollars, and there's things that can go wrong in transit. Don't even think of buying international, it's not necassary for what you're looking for.

Besides, the thing would only ride on the left side of the track, and would go counter-race for every other american racer. LOL...

Dude:

I am a manager at a bank.  This happens WAY too often, to the point that I'm amazed people even think about believing it.  Without question, it's a scam.

BTW:  If you get a letter from a guy in Nigeria who has $38 million and he needs to get it out of the country and will let you keep a million if you open an account here for him, please don't do it.

Or, if the FBI calls and says your bank is handing out counterfeit money and they'dlike you to withdraw some for them to look at (yes, it happened here to an old guy, they kept asking for more and more and ended up with $45,000 of his money) Don't do it.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, very recently we've been getting a lot of VERY real looking US Postal Money Orders.  They look good, are fake, and it takes the Post Office about 6 months to bounce that money order, so the bad guy is long gone.

I feel like Jeff Foxworthy:

If you've ever..............you might be getting scamed.
